I am something like 4 weeks pregnant (not sure as cycles are extremely irregualr) A few days ago I started getting a pinkish colour in my discharge, not all the time, and one day I didn't have it. What's worse is I@m out of hte country for a week and have spoken to the midwife but the first date for a scan I can get is Feb 26th. Is this a sure sign I'm losing the pregnancy?

no it's not a sure sign you're losing the pregnancy, hopefully it's just implantation bleeding, which many women get.

But if it gets any worse or if you start to experience pain, you do need to contact a doctor.

not a sure sign I will be hones I had 2 mc after dd1 and they started with pinkish discharge, however, within 48 hours I was losing blood and needed a pad, but I also had pink/brown discharge and bleeding with dd2 (from 6 weeks to 18 weeks and then 32 to 38 weeks) and shes currently destroying my lounge!

It may be a water infection, implantation bleed. Do you have any pain?

hi no, no pain
just some periody type pain a week or so ago, nothing that actually hurts

NotBreeVanDeKamp - I understand you are worried but it is not a sure sign as others have said. Many of us have had the awful scare of early pregnancy bleeding - ranging from light pink discharge to full on light period symptoms. Again, many just stop and the pregnancy continues absolutely fine. Try to take comfort in the knowledge that it is not a forgone conclusion. There is plenty of room for hope.

However, if you notice any further symptoms - high temp, pain (especially sharp pain to one side) or any other "really not well" symptoms, please seek medical help asap.

My two gave me horrible scares in both pregnancies - to the point where I had several early pregnancy clinic scans and rescans. They are now healthy 5 and 7 yr old girls - still giving me plenty of reason to stress but in totally new ways!

Are you alone out there or do you have some company to help you through the next few days?

I had this too - the thing is that if you are only four weeks they can't confirm viability until you are 6 anyway, so at least the scan date of 26th will give you a proper answer about what's going on.

I had pink and brown spotting from 4+4 (although didn't know I was pg so didn't worry!) until about 11 weeks - I'm now 30 weeks. I had two trips to EPU in that time for scans, but everything always seemed correct for dates. I also had on and off period pains too.

I remember being at work when I had this with dd1, at about 5 weeks pregnant. I rang NHS direct who said it was almost definitely nothing to worry about, as long as it wasn't accompanied by pain or got worse. They said it could be implantation or cervical erosion. Thankfully it settled, although took about 4/5 days to totally disappear. I remeber being very worried at the time though (we had just told family)so will be thinking of you.

Hi, I posted about having something similar to this a few weeks ago, when i was also 4 weeks. It last a good few days but then settled down and everything is fine.

I KNOW its easier said than done but please try not to worry, its very common. Every mother I've asked since has told me they had some kind of spotting at some point in their pregnancy

Sorry for the delay in replying, lost the connection. Just wanted to say thanks everyone for being so supportive on this thread. Will post back hopefully with good news after the scan. Has settled down a bit since this so fingers crossed.
