Hi, name change here as very very early days - 4 weeks pg today. I've had a bad cold and intermittant temperature, like just now it's 37.7. Should I take paracetamol? Probably woul'nt normally bother but I'm sure I've read it's not great to have a temperature in pg. But then I've also read your temp rises in early pg anyway so maybe this is normal and not fever. Any advice or thoughts? Thanks

37.7 is a fever - not a slight temp rise.

Paracetamol is safe in pg...probably safer than a fever.

Thanks. Realised after I'd posted am feeling bit ill, so have taken 500mg paracetamol.

another 500mg won't hurt...and TBH you probably won't hit therapeutic dose with just 500mg.

Have taken another 500. Weirdly I just took temp again under arm and it's normal there. And no I haven't recently had a cup of tea or hot drink. And I do feel fluey and feverish suddenly - obviously very localised for some reason...

Anyway thanks very much for prompt advice.

37.7 is a fever? Mine is usually 37.2 so not much of a difference there. I thought it had to be well over 38 to be a fever.

hope you feel better soon, saucypan.

There are different grades of fever.

I think 37.5 is mild
38.5 moderate
39.5 severe

Could be wrong thoughh....

It does also depend on yuo normal baseline and how and where you take the temperature.

Rectal temp is the official godl standard "core temp" with ear thermometers a close second.

Oral can be affected by hot and cold drinks - and is not core temp so less reliable.

Armpit is also not core body - and is usually regarded as being 0.4-0.5C lower than core temp.
