I am just being brought totally down by the sickness, the tiredness, the pregnantness and all the high risk pregnancy hoopla, bad obstetric history etc. I'm 26 weeks and no longer being sick, but I feel sick a lot of the time and finding it pretty debilitating. The rest of pg, birth etc. is going to be a long haul and I think I owe it to myself and family to try to make things as easy as possible for the moment.

Do you think there's anything I could take that would improve the nausea situation? It has been back with a vengeance this week and I have no appetite at all. Have to force myself to eat anything other than cornflakes and chocolate.

Hugs to you. I was so sick for 6 weeks last winter in my first trimester that I was hospitalised 4 times. I think I have been on all the anti nausea meds going:

Cyclizine tablets -didn't really work
Cyclizine jabs (in hospital) - did work, but hallucinogenic!
Stemotil jabs (in hopsital) - excellent
Metroclopromide tablest - OK

There is another one called Avomide or something similar, but I don't know if it is not another brand name for any of the ones I have already mentioned.

Ice cubes and ice lollies - not bad.

Boots Shapers Cloudy lemonade (but oddly, no other brand) and egg mayo butties on white bread occassionally.

I could just about keep down tomato or minestrone Cuppa Soup, if I could it it very slowly with a teaspoon. The doc put me on a high calorie diet, which I would have found hillarious if I hadn't been feeling so ill.

If you are concerned about the effect on the baby, then all I can say is that DS is now 20 weeks old, bright and smiley, happy, health and strong.

I really hope you feel better soon. It's awful isn't it. You have all my sympathy .

Thanks for all the info and helpful words, BikeRunSki. I have never been as bad as you - nearly got hospitalised with DD because I couldn't drink any liquids, but they said I wasn't quite bad enough in the end.

I've been through so many weird combos of foods that work for a couple of weeks and then I can't look at for the rest of pregnancy. I sort of know the drill now for how to manage it, I just want to feel better than that.

Did the medication that worked lift the nausea a bit, or completely? I'm coping with the sickness but it's wearing me down, and am looking for something that will make me feel better and give me a break for a while.

Oh I should say I haven't thrown up since Christmas. I "only" have nausea now. Half expect to get laughed out of the GP's surgery, really, if I were to ask for medication.
