Am 28 weeks today. For the past week or so have been having really strong tightenings when going to sleep. Not every night but most nights, nothing really in the day, maybe the odd BH but that's all.

Yesterday and today I have had really leaky boobs, needing to poo a lot (sorry, TMI I know), and the baby is really really wriggly.

Third pregnancy and am wondering if this is normal, to feel these really really strong tightening so early on. They took my breath last night and I really thought she was going to be born but then I woke up and it was morning. But I am SO tired with being kept awake with these at night.

Please tell me it's normal!!

I'm 24 wks and this is my second pregnancy. I had them from about 18 weeks in my first pregnancy and i've been having them for a few weeks this time to. I find my are quite random but i do feel them more if i'm stressed out. They can be quite uncomfortable and i feel my stomach go rock hard and you can see it change shape. I wonder why some women get them so early on. I try not to worry about them as i had them last time so i'm guessing they're fairly normal.

thanks chocolate. I have been having uncomfortable tightenings for a few weeks but not painful, and did so in my last two pregnancies but the last couple of nights they have been really painful, and about every 5 minutes for half an hour or so.

Am worried about possibility of UTI as I keep needing the loo but I think that's more the way the baby is lying. What are the symptoms of a UTI?

I had a UTI after birth of DD. I constantly needed the toilet but it was painful, like somebody was sticking a knife up there(!). It makes me cringe thinking about it. I've been going to the toilet a lot too and often only manage a dribble but i really think it's the position it's in. It must be lying on my bladder. I think the tightenings could be a good thing and are a sign that the uterus is doing its job. Did you have fairly quick labours before?

surprisenumber3 · 22/01/2009 22:50

i had a planned section with my first so no labour there, with the second it was 9 hours start to finish, dilated quite slowly but once dilated only a few pushes and he was out

It's not painful when I go to the loo so hopefully not a UTI. Thanks for your help

I've had braxton hicks from 17 wks in this pregnancy (had them from 27 wks in my first)and was a bit worried about the frequency sometimes.

I found they are brought on by peeing but also that they make me want to pee (if that makes any sense). I also found I get them more when I'm a bit dehydrated.

You can get painless UTI's when pg so it might be worth getting checked out by your Dr or MW just to be on the safe side.

Thanks - been to GP today and I have leukocytes in urine so he thinks I might have an infection - was only trace though - but he's sending it off to the lab.

I keep feeling sick and dizzy but apart from needing to wee every half hour no pain or burning or anything,.

I went to the docs today after elibumbum's post about painless UTI's. I've been going to the toilet lots and i have had a few niggley aches low down in my abdomen. I also have white blood cells in my urine and they've given me antibiotics and sent my urine off to the lab. Thanks for posting this or i probably wouldn't have found out!

hope you feel better soon chocolate frog!

maybe i should have had AB's then, hope they get back to me soon if it is something.
