Could this be SPD?

I am 38 weeks and wondering if I have SPD. I feel very 'saddle sore' on my sitting bones (left hand side only). I have been feeling v uncomfortable in bed for the past few nights- finding it increasingly difficult to turn over without pain. Then last night I slipped on a puddle of water in the bathroom and did the splits. Lots of pain immediately and since then have been very uncomfortable. Rolling over in bed is impossible- had to get DH to roll me this morning from right to left side so I could put some ear drops in!! Also need help getting up out of bed. Walking uncomfortable (feel like I have a bruise, as if I have been riding a bike with a very hard seat). Could this be SPD?

i'm not sure.
I think SPD is is where your muscles relax and cause your pelvic bones to rub together (sorry, really bad explaination) so SPD pain is generally in your groin.
I know my friend had something similar to what you describe and had the pain around her coccyx. She saw a physio who helped alot.
Sorry not a great help, but didn't want you to go unanswered.

hi hairy
sounds very much like SPD to me. I've been one of the unlucky ones that have had it from about 24 weeks, although quite mild to start with. I'm now 35 weeks and it is exactly as you describe. I struggle to walk/roll over in bed/get up.
Best advice I can give is to lie on a duvet at night with a pillow/cusions between your legs. I find a warm bath at night helps too and when I saw my consultant a few days ago he recommended taking paracetamol every 6 hours which should ease the sypmtoms a bit.

Hi, I had SPD while carrying dd. Your symptoms sound very familiar. I couldn't get into bed with dh's help. My mw referred me to physio, was given pelvic belt-type thing to wear that pulled my pelvis back together - instant relief. Hope this helps.

Sorry without dh's help. Mind you, he wasn't much help some days either!

my spd affected the bone at the front (under pubic hair)....it gets soft so that it can lift up to let baby out (i think). its painful when your legs are parted (so no star jumps) and going up and down stairs is tricky
