Hi the last couple of days i have been struggling to walk. i had posted the other day about pressure on my bladder which seems to have slightly relieved but i have a really bad pain in inner left thigh/groin and can barely walk not seeing mw till tues. I dont think its spd as when i look it up says symtoms like pelvis seperating which i dont feel like it is and i dont have any clicking or rubbing.

This week i really have started to show big time. Everyone now notices and have been getting strangers asking when im due which i love because i hated the inbetween just looking like a porker and not pg stage! so maybe the fact im gaining now has put pressure on my leg?

SPD can cause those symptoms. Indeed in my second pregnancy I had more problems with my inner thighs than anything. However it could be that you baby is resting on a femoral nerve - try getting down on hands and knees for half an hour with your bum in the air and see if it helps.

I had this, started about 26 weeks and it was spd. No clicking or rubbing, just an ache on both side of my groin that felt like I'd pulled a muscle doing the splits! Walking makes it worse, but then so does sitting still for too long.

Do you feel pain in your groin when turning over in bed?

Good news is it does go a couple of weeks after you give birth.

Then its quite likely its SPD. Try and get an appointment with your hospital physio, you might need to get your MW to refer you. The physio will show you a bunch of exercises that can help strengthen your pelvic floor and core muscles. Also, if you do lots of walking as part of your daily routine, try and find ways to avoid this as it can aggravate the ligaments and make them hurt even more in the evening.

I found it helpful to sleep on my back, but with a pillow tucked under my right side so i was at an angle. Sleeping on my side by the third trimester would put extra pressure on my pelvis and it would 'crunch' painfully everytime i got out of bed to go to the toilet. I could have possibly avoided this if I hadnt gone on a walking holiday in Dorset at 26 weeks!

Good luck with your pregnancy.

Do you have any other synpoms like hot patches on your leg or a swollen leg?

You are probably ok, but it is worth seeing a doctor to check you haven't got a DVT. I had a pain in my thigh and had this. These are quite rare though.

sorry am feeding baby so typing is v brief

Not swollen or any hot patches thank god! but just really sore on the inner thighs and struggling to walk i am at hosp on tues for a while for gtt so i will have plenty of time to discuss it with mw and see what she says.

Is it a sudden shooting pain? I had this from 18-29 weeks and it went away (nothing to worry about according to MW). It did make me catch my breath though!

Pinkbump3 · 22/01/2009 23:41

no its a constant over stretched ache feeling like ive done the splits badly!
