Lack of energy

I realise the answer is probably a resounding 'no', but does anyone have any miracle cures for having no energy? I'm fine mentally, so say if I go to work and have to sit in front of the computer all day then it's not a problem. But I have no energy for anything physical and sometimes feel dizzy when I stand up.

I'm vegetarian so have been taking iron supplements every so often so it shouldn't be anemia or anything. I would love to just listen to my body and just lie down in front of the tv until it passes but I have dd to look after and the our house is starting to look disgusting. I'm about 13 weeks if this makes any difference.

Hiya, I am at about 10 weeks with number 4. And I do know exactly what you mean. Usually with me it is an iron issue but I gave up taking iroon tablets a long time ago - i just don't absorb them properly. I use iron heavy mineral water called spatone. You can buy it in boots its completely natural and fine for vegetarians. ( and reccomended during pregnancy)

Also, get your m/w to check your blood pressure. Dizziness when standing up is usually caused by a sudden drop in either blood pressure / blood sugar. Low iron decreases the amount if oxygen getting round your body, and that too can make you dizzy ( or pass out completely).

Its true however that during pregnancy you do get exhausted just for the sake of being exhausted. Try to just do the basics until you are feeling better or guilt trip your dp into doing it!!

Thanks kitkat. The spatone is what I've been taking. My blood pressure is typically on the low side and I haven't really eaten much today so that's obviously not helping. DP has been great and is doing loads round the house and is making dinner as I type. I suppose that's making me feel guilty though as he's been at work all day and I've been sat at home getting nothing done. Oh well, I guess I should just think of it as him playing his part.

Don't feel guilty!! You get to go through labour - the least he can do is a bit of h/work. In honesty my dp doesn't mind at all, says it makes him feel like he's doing his bit. He's even insisting on putting the kids to bed "for me" which always makes me laugh!!

Make the most of it and enjoy!!
