Just looking for a bit of advice on nursing bras etc...Am 30 weeks pregnant at the moment. How many will I need/best place to buy them? Best time to buy them? Is it a good idea to start wearing them towards the end of pregnancy?

Sorry - am clueless about this whole bra thing - have managed to get by so far on my old bras but feel like I should get something with more support etc now...

Any advice much appreciated.

I think the advice is to get measured at about 34-36 weeks for them (and don't be surprised if they are HUGE!)

I loved my Elle MacPhearson ones last time - from Figleaves- and from what I've read on here, I'm very tempted to try 'HotMilk' this time as well.

I'm pretty clueless too...

I've heard you should wait until your baby has 'dropped' down until you get fitted, because your chest measurement will change after that.

I am 34 weeks and thought I'd have a look around. I went to John Lewis yesterday, and they said best to wait till 2 weeks before baby is due (eek!) before getting measured up. Their bras were a bit more expensive, but looked good quality.

I was in H&M too so thought I'd try one of their nursing ones - it was the most incredibly uncomfortable bra I've ever worn, cut in everywhere and felt very cheap.

Think I will wait till the last minute to get properly fitted, but might get a stretchy, sports style one before that - which won't rely so much on proper measurements - just in case things happen earlier than expected.

Buy Bravado bras on the internet - they come in M, M+ etc.. sizes rather than specific sizes, they give you a guide of which ones to buy. Very comfortable - this time round wearing them as maternity bras too. They have lots of adjustments so when your rib cage shrinks they still fit.

Got one fitted in Mothercare and another in John Lewis both at 38 weeks last pregnancy - both useless and gave me blocked ducts.

I was just at Mark yesterday getting fitted, because although I am not quite 18 weeks, my current bras were so uncomfortable.

They fitted me with non-wired bras that are very comfortable. Not very pretty, but I can live with that for the next few months.

I asked and they recommend coming to get fitted again for nursing bras about 2 weeks before you are due.

Cosmogirl - try HotMilk, I've splashed out and bought three bra and knicker sets and a gorgeous camisole. Have been so comfy and lasted me from 12 weeks. I bought them two cup sizes bigger, but I only started out with C cup, which is not that big really.

I think around 37/38 weeks is the optimum time to get measured (as hopefully baby has started to drop down). Would only get a couple to start off with (and LOTS of breast pads) so you can wear one while the other is in the wash as you do change size quite quickly again after the first 6 weeks (or at least I did).

The bravado bras sound good. Last time round I used Royce bras from Debenhams which were fairly pretty and fitted really well. Hotmilk bras look lovely - werent really around when I had DS so looking forward to getting some of them this time round once my size has settled down...
