Maternity pay - is there some kind of calculator?

Hey all,

I'm 33 weeks this week and already on maternity leave. I get 6 weeks SMP at 90% and the standard SMP for 36 weeks, but I also get 12 weeks Occupational Maternity Pay for 12 weeks. Does anyone know if this is paid on top of the SMP for 12 weeks or does it go 6 weeks-12 weeks - 36 weeks?

Is there an online calculator or something?

Occupational Maternity is specific to your company. So its whatever it says in your terms and conditions.

For example, if your T&C say 12 weeks full pay, then your OMP will consist of the 10% to bring it up to full pay for the first 6 weeks, then whatever it takes to bring it up to full pay for the next 6 weeks. You can't receive more than full pay.

Right, my T&Cs say I get SMP i.e. 6 weeks at 90% of average weekly earnings plus 33 weeks at standard rate SMP plus OMP (Occupational Maternity Pay) of 12 weeks half-pay. So I would get 6 weeks of 90%, then 12 weeks of OMP, then 21 weeks of SMP?

I would say you'd get 6 weeks at 90%, then 12 weeks of OMP at 1/2 pay PLUS standard rate SMP, then 21 weeks of standard rate SMP, based on what you've put.

HR should be able to clarify it for you.

Thanks MaryBS, my company's HR is hopeless as it's outsourced (they lost 2 of my MATB1s, the original AND the replacement) so it's a lot easier if I have a starting idea!

Try this HMRC SMP Calculator
It won't calculate how much tax or NI you will have to pay though. HTH
