I have suffered from spd in this pregnancy and even though I am close to dropping now I am at my wits end!! I have to use crutches to walk as its so painful, but during the day I can cope with that...its night time!! I wake up several times every night screaming when trying to turn over...its seriously the most painful thing I have ever had (except labour ). I have tried cushions in between my knees, wedges, you name it ive tried it. My poor hubby has to get up and turn me and Im worried that we are not going to get a decent night sleep before baby comes along!!

Has anyone got any tips/advice on sleeping positions? I was thinking of sleeping on the couch with loads of cushions so I am almost sat up...what do you think??? I am 38 + 4 now but a full night sleep would be fab!!

HELP!!

AJM - That's interested what you say keeping active as I have always been told that being on my feet too much will aggrivate it. Right now my day involves, car, walking, train, walking, sitting, walking, train, walking, car and then running around after two kids, one of whom I have to lift constantly, making dinners, bath time, homework etc etc. It feels pretty active and I feel sorer if I don't sit down enough in the afternoon. But, I don't know if all this activity will help me later on in the pregnancy. We shall see, but I was the same last time, couldn't roll over in my bed, couldn't get up without help. Oh how it sucks.

i'm sorry you are such pain, ihad it too, but mine was still bad after 3 yrs. It affects people differently, and it may go like it has for other posters.

I can't have anymore either, its really depresing. One thing that HAS helped is that i went on the mini pill 2 yrs ago, and the pain has subsided, becuase of the non fluctation of hormones. I wasn't advised to do this, i just did, and came off the pill and the pain flared up again with my periods.

There is aot more knowledge about this these days, i found that i seemed alone with it.

Hmmmm, it's very unusual that keeping active helps with SPD. My physio advised not complete bed rest, but otherwise restricting physical activity, especially load bearing or on uneven surfaces. So slickbird, I'd use it as an excuse to do as little as you can!

Domestic - Well I'm all for resting more that's for sure!! I do wonder how I'm going to manage as time goes on, getting to work etc. Oh well, as long as it goes after the pregnancy unlike some unlucky people on this thread!
