I seem to bounce from one anxiety to the next- that I've eaten something wrong being the main one but also that I'm not going to be able to cope when baby arrives, and many others... This is my second pg and I felt like this with the first too- strangely i was calm during labour and after I'd given birth and indeed normally in daily life but theres something about pregnancy that makes me a bit loopy. Please tell me I'm not alone....

Oh you are soooo not alone! I think more people feel like this than don't! It's perfectly natural. Pregnancy is a situation over which you have very little conscious control and that is quite difficult for a lot of people to handle - so your brain just goes round and round all the things that can go wrong. Don't err worry - it's perfectly natural

You really are not alone. I too get the food one, especially if I've eaten in a resturant or from somewhere where i can't be 100% sure they haven't poisoned my unborn I'll worry for days, it's stupid.

And I know what you're saying about bouncing from one anxiety to another, first I was convinced I would miscarry, then I was sure there would be something wrong with the baby, recently I'm terrified of pre term labour, oh and the most stupid one, that my baby will be ugly!!!

Oh thank you......Its horrible - I feel like I'm losing my marbles!! The only way I seem to cope is by keeping ridiculously busy .....but then I'm knackered....and then Im irrational. And I've 12 more weeks to go!!!

Poor you, 15 weeks to go here. You don't google some of your anxieties do you? I do which has just reminded me, did you know that the parasite that dogs carry that can cause blindness, isn't just in their poo as is widely believed but is actually carried on their fur cue me now stroking the dog with latex gloves on just incase and frantic handwashing after I swear I was the most laid back and rational person before I got pregnant now I'm a loon as this helpful infomation illustrates

Sunflower100 · 13/01/2009 19:56

I do google and now I'm going to walk away so that I don't google whatever parasite you mean!!

I wouldn't worry Sunflower it's very rare, but an example of how stupidly irrational I have become. (I don't actually wear latex gloves to stroke the dog at the moment by the way but I'm not far off )

Please tell me this gets better when the baby is born

Sunflower100 · 13/01/2009 20:10

It did for me!! My midwife said she hadn't seen anyone so much calmer after birth than before! What a fruitcake I am!!
My mum despairs and harks back to when they all smoked, drank and ate rare steaks through pregnancy!

I know what you mean Sunflower, MIL keeps having a go at me because I'll constantly be saying "am I allowed that though?" when she offers me something. And rolls her eyes when i say no to another cup of tea, "I've had my maximum of 5 a day" I say.

She actually caused me more anxiety though by saying I should relax and be less stressed about every little thing, and by reminding me that stress is actually the worse thing for the baby. Thanks for that MIL, now I'm worrying that my constant worrying is going to damage the baby, and that is causing me to worry even more lol

Ah rubbish! I was soooo stressed last pregnancy and my dd is the most laid back baby!
Last night I promised my husband I would try to be more rational.
