I have really bad MS and it's now got to the point where I can't keep anything down or look after my ds, so i think I need to go back to the doc's. I just want to know if the medication actually works and are there any side effects?

I took it. Stopped me from being sick, but didn't take away the feeling that I was going to be,which I think is worse!!!!

Have you tried sea bands?

Worked for me!! Like little sweat bands with a hard ball inside that presses on an acupunture point to take away sickness.

Obviously if it is really bad, talk to your MW!!!!

Yes I've tried sea bands - but they didn't help unfortunately. When did your sickness stop?
I'm really struggling with the sickness - it's beginning to really get me down

lol,you are not going to like this, but it didn't stop until about the 6th month!!! but I was carrying triplets,so hopefully yours will stop sooner!!

Its horrible I know, only thing I found helped was the old dry biscuits and water beside the bed waiting for when I woke up. I used to urge eating them, but afterwards I felt better

PMSL I didn't mean old biscuits by the way I meant the old trick of...

I've tried every sickness medication available as I am suffering with horrific hyperemesis but unfortunately, they all have different side affects and not one worked for me!!

I was hospitalised with hyeremisis last winter. When I was in hospital stemitil injections worked best, when I was discharged, metroclopromide tablets worked OK. The sickness started at 7 weeks and just disappeared over night at 14 weeks, and i was only sick twice in the next 6 months, both times when I was very tired and hungry. I found I could stomach ice lollies if I let them melt slowly in my mouth, and tomato cuppa soup, if I coudl eat it slowly with a teaspoon.

I really feel for you, it was horrible, horrible, horrible. But DS's little cheeky, gummy smiles now make it all (almost ) worthwhile.

PS The side effects

Ciclizine - Injections - Hallucinations and itchy, jerky legs! Tablets - none, but not very effective on me either.

Stemitil - Overwhelming fatigue (but that could have been the pregnancy)

Metroclopromide - nothing.

At one point I was toggling two or three at the same time.

i have had severe hyperemesis in both pregnancies (hospitalised for weeks at a time)

medication prevented me from terminating my second pregnancy as the sickness was so bad i just wanted to die. I tried several antiemetics with 2nd pregnancy and none of them worked until i finally read up about ondansetron (zofran) which isnt commonly used in the UK. The hospital finally agreed to prescribe it (i think its very expensive) and the day after i felt SO much better! [Hayletbootes - have you researched this drug?]

I would highly recommend anti sickness medication if you have got to the point where you cant cope or function normally. Speak to your GP, make sure they understand that its MORE than your average morning sickness. (ime they can be quick to fob you off with the old 'it will ease after 12 weeks' chestnut...)
