Anyone else get really annoyed with ante-natal care?

Does it really piss anyone else off that we haveto have ante-natal care split between a team of midwives and not an idividual but also have ante-natal checks with whichever gp is free at the time when you are told you need to be seen by a doctor and not a midwife. This really fucking annoys me. (apologies if language offends anyone). Especially as most of the mws on the team are miserable old battle-axes that are not in the slightest reassuring or understanding.
I just called the mw clinic I've been going to (I complained about the cmw so have to go to hospital now) to make 36 wks appointment and the receptionist told me 36 weeks was a gp week so I sai ok, I'll call the surgery and she asked why I seemed to think 36 weeks was with the mw so told her that when I git by cramping, aching body down to clinic for 34 wk check there was noone there she said she'd make an appointment for me for next week and when I asked which mw that would be with, she asked why I wanted to know so I told her I didn't have the time to sit infront of some jumped-up old cow bag and that I was angered by the fact that there was no consistancy in the crap care that I recieve anyway and that I'd just go to the fucking doctor and I'll see a bloody mw when I turn up at hospital in labour.
I wonder where all that came from? I was in a fine mood 10 minutes ago......

But littleboyblue you did have a community midwife, but you didn't want to see her. Okay maybe they should have been able to come up with a replacement, but it rather sounds like you don't like anyone or any of the care you've received. Either you're very unlucky in this regard, or there's a common factor in all your appointments, which causes them to go wrong and be unhelpful to you....

Hahaha. I know it sounds like it's me doesn't it? But it really isn't. The care here is just really crap.
The community mw was a patronising old cow and I'm not the only one to think so. My neigbour also complained and said she couldn't see her, but even then care was split. There's been alot of oversights through this pregnancy and I'm just a bit angry/upset about it all, also maybe a bit over emotional.

I never had an appt with a gp in either 2 pgs. i had my cmw replaced because she was a lying cow. she was denying me a home birth.

where on earth do you live?

I have to put the other side here my care has been suprisingly good. Care has to be split between a team as midwives deserve some time off at some point you cant guarantee who will be there when you get to the hospital and this way you are likely to at least have met your midwife before. Those I have met thus far have been lovely and attentive. I have recieved a couple of calls with updates on things we have discussed during appointments (Got one this am telling me I have a urine infection, not great but good to know sooner rather than later!!). And my sonographers, and consultant at the hospital have been amazing and reassuring.

I know this will probably come to slap me on the face and I am due a horrible experience at some point but someone has to say that there are anti-natal care proffessionals out there who are doing a great job and they are not all horrific.

Live in Middlesex/Surrey border. It just pisses me off because each person you see tells you a different thing. I've been on 5 courses of anti biotics for a urine infection which some midwives tell me is non exsistant even though the results come directly to me from the hospital lab (I have to call the hospital for the results) but it doesn't always show on their system. The gp sends samples off under my NHS number and the mw's do it under hospital number so all these different people I see don't get the whole picture of previous care/treatment. There is a massive lack of communication between these people. For example, we saw a consultant regarding size of this baby and he said if infection comes back again, he'd request I go on a low dose of anti-b's for rest of pregnancy (4 weeks) instead of a standard course that clearly isn't working, so when I called hospital they said got to gp for course and said what consultant said wasn't on system so they can't do that, but that I have to wait to recieve results in the post befopre I can be treated . Also blood pressure has been raised at last 2 checks but they aren't concerned which is fine, but in urine they picked up protein, nitrates, glucose and blood but aren't doing anything about it

honey that's great you are happy with the care. It sounds really good. I know not all of them are the same, care with ds was fine until we got to the hospital.
I just needed to rant about it, is all.
