Familiar symptoms of spd at 14 weeks - any advice

I am 14 weeks into a twin pregnancy and the all too familiar pangs of SPD have started.....painful turning over in bed and can feel pains when walking too. I had SPD in my last pregnancy 9 years ago but not until much later on and didn't have any treatment as such, just muddled though.
I am worried it is going to be much worse this time if the pain has started already and wondered if anyone had any advice of what really helps/works and if there is anything I can do to stop the SPD getting worse?
I see from reading a couple of old threads that seeing a chiropractor/physio helped some people - can anyone recommend this as treatment?
Thanks in advance.

ask for hydrotherapy. it was fab for my spd.

at home i found using the birthing ball, lying over it, very good too.

I don't have experience of SPD but I did have sacroilliac problems in my pregnancies. I distinctly remember agonising pain at about 13/14 weeks pregnant which eased until much later. My midwife explained you get a surge of relaxin at about that stage in pregnancy.

This could be happening to you? You might find it a lot better this time next week and only suffer much later on as you did in your last pregnancy.

HTH. Good luck.

I had severe spd first time round and ended up on crutches at 20 weeks. 2nd time round I spotted the syptoms earlier, like you, and this time went straight to an osteopath who'd helped me with back problems and who had lots of experience with spd sufferers. I had to pay but it was well worth it and really helped.

I would recommend though that you get referred by your gp or midwife for physio on the nhs. Between my 2 pregnancies the physio for spd really improved. I did go for a few nhs sessions but preferred the osteo in the end. But after dd2 I continued to have some problems and, being skint by this time, went to the nhs physio and I can't fault the treatment. Either way, some intervention will definitely help. Don't try to muddle through - it's far too painful to be brave! Good luck

Had SPD with both my pregnancies - second one alot worse and it also started early.
Physio can't treat it as such, but can give advice and a big elastic support belt that does help a bit.
I did suffer a fair bit second timearound, and the best advice I can give is to rest as much as possible, try not to walk far unless you need to (or you'll be in agony that evening) and don't be shy about asking partners, friends and relatives to help.
HTH.

Thanks for so many quick replies.

meid I will bear that in mind, thank you.

I will investigate local osteopaths and ask GP about physio and hydrotherapy too.
