Hi ladies!

I'm now 15 weeks pg and I just have a 'feeling' that baby is a boy. I don't really have any real reason for thinking this, apart from the fact that I've felt it moving very early and it seems to be very active. (I know this doesn't = boy)

It may just be because I know DP is hoping for a boy and he's talked a lot about how he's going to train him to be a footballer (he's football obsessed) lol.

Or it may be because we've got our boy's name picked but haven't got so much as one name which we both like for a girl. A couple of people have also started to refer to baby as Charlie (our boy's name).

Also, a male friend of ours has just died so maybe it's me hoping for a boy to fill his shoes. Dunno.

The funny thing is that I would actually prefer a girl so I don't think this is just wishful thinking.

I've just got a 'feeling' so just wondered if anybody else has felt the same and turned out to be wrong or right?

Yes I knew the sex.

BUT I was wrong.

littleboyblue · 11/01/2009 15:29

I knew 100% with first one that he'd be a boy. Dp didn't want to know sex but I said it didn't matter because I knew. We went for scan, he asked and they said a boy, when there was no reaction from me, the scanner asked if I was disappointed, but it was just because it was old news.......

delightedoldbag34 · 11/01/2009 17:06

I 'knew' with all three of mine. And was right. [smug emoticon]

But have been wrong about a few of my friends babies.

BikeRunSki · 11/01/2009 17:51

Yes, I knew DS was a boy, the moment I knew I was pg. It wasn't wishful thinking or anything, I just knew. Even when I was hospitalised with hyperemisis and all the MWs and nurses were saying that it's only girls that give you hyperemisis. Only chose a boy's name(only liked a boys name). Sonographer confirmed this at 20 weeks, DS confirmed this at 38 weeks.

Mamazon · 11/01/2009 17:52

I knew.

ib · 11/01/2009 17:54

My sister was convinced her ds2 was a girl. She just 'knew'.

Imagine her shock....

llareggub · 11/01/2009 17:55

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and knew from very early on that I was carrying a boy. One of the reasons I found out from the scan was because so many people were looking at me and telling me that I was definitely having a girl from the way I was "carrying."

I was wrong with DS1 though. I was convinced he was a girl and even challenged the sonographer when she told me he was a boy!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the mothers intutition is usually something like 80% accurate.

BlueSapphire77 · 11/01/2009 18:04

I knew with all three of mine.
And with all my friends babies, and my sisters.
The only one i got wrong was my mums last, a girl, but now she's 12 i keep telling her i was almost right because she's a proper tomboy
Had a stand up row with DP as he was sure we were going to have a girl, i said "I'm always RIGHT " His reply was don't we just bloody know it.. argument followed.. silent treatment until 20 week scan when i was proved right (smug)
Oh, and he is banned from telling anyone that i cried

LoveActually · 11/01/2009 18:12

I was TOTALLY convinced I was expecting a boy, until scan at 28 weeks, got sonographer to double check at 36 week scan (we are taking part in a study so get extra scans) and it's most certainly a girl.

spicemonster · 11/01/2009 18:15

I knew mine was a boy and he is. But looking at the thread, I'd say it was 50/50 if you were right or not

BabyBaby123 · 11/01/2009 18:39

first one - wasn't sure, thought probably a boy and was right...

second, 100% sure was a girl - was right

third - felt sure i was having a boy - even bought some boys clothes at about 6 weeks pg two scans have said girl!!

IdrisTheDragon · 11/01/2009 18:40

I had an instinctive feeling both times.

With DS was very convinced he was a girl.

With DD was very convinced she was a boy.

chancelloroftheexCHEQUERS · 11/01/2009 18:43

Yes, from about 8 weeks I 'knew' she was a girl.

Can't explain it really, just whenever I pictured life with our baby it was with a little girl. Also was absolutely certain of the girl name we would use be still undecided on the boy name (knew I wouldn't need it).

It's all boys in DH's family too so I told everyone it'd probably be a boy, even though I 'knew' otherwise.

lilimama · 11/01/2009 18:56

I was certain DS was a girl.

Absolutely certain, with all the weird spooky dreams and all the absolute knowings etc etc.

And he was a boy.

YOu can think you know and you can be absolutely certain and because there's a whopping 50% chance that you'll be right, it gives credence to the whole,"I knew" thing.

Don't think anyone really knows...you just tune into a certain set of notions and half the time people are right and half the time they're wrong.

life's funny innit?

ha!

xfabba · 11/01/2009 19:02

I felt I knew each time from about 6 weeks that mine were boys even though wasnt really bothered either way. Confirmed at 12 week scans both time by presence of visible appendage!

LackaDAISYcal · 11/01/2009 19:05

With DS1 I was so certain he was a boy, I hadn't even considered any girl's names.

With DD I was fairly sure it was a girl, but only because my pregnancy was sooo different from that with DS1.

DS2, was sure it was a girl, but 20 weeks scan said differently.

simpson · 11/01/2009 19:09

From about 11wks I just knew DS (DC1) was a boy!!

I was so sure that I even started to buy boys clothes etc...

The MW was convinced that we had found out the sex in a scan because I was so sure!!

With DC2 I didn't have a clue

nulgirl · 11/01/2009 19:21

with my 2nd pregnancy i instinctively knew it was another girl. i was therefore gutted (and actually cried ) when i found out at 34 weeks that dd2 was actually going to be ds1. i only agreed to finding out the sex as i thought they were only going to tell me what i already knew. ds1 has now arrived and i am madly in love with him.

GreenPeas · 11/01/2009 19:34

I'm like Idris... completely wrong both times. We hadn't even contemplated boys names when DS arrived so he was nameless for the best part of a week.

nancy75 · 11/01/2009 19:39

i knew with dd, i was positive, never thought of her as a boy. if she had come out as a boy i dont think i would have believed she was mine!

JingleBonesJun · 11/01/2009 20:02

I was convinced from day one I was having a boy.

I have a girl! It is 50/50 after all.

xxhunnyxx · 11/01/2009 20:04

Well we are going to find out at the 20 week scan so I'll let you know whether I'm right. Like a couple of you have said there is a 50% chance lol.
It would be interesting to find out the statistics of whether mothers' intuition is correct...might get googling!

SparklyGothKat · 11/01/2009 20:10

I knew with the boys, but not the girls, I just knew the boys were boys, not sure why, just felt it

Bicnod · 11/01/2009 20:14

I'm 24+6 weeks pregnant with my first DC and totally convinced that I'm having a boy... I have been since about week 9 (which is weird as I always imagined having a baby girl before I got pg).

We decided not to find out at the 20 week scan...

I will be really shocked if bump turns out to be a girl!!

xxhunnyxx · 11/01/2009 20:17

Well I've just been googling....apparently the statics are that 70% of mother's predictions are correct.
Of course 50% of those predictions are just guesses which just happened to be right but that still leaves an extra 20% of women who must have just been intuitive. Interesting
