Ok, So i'm not technically overdue yet (due today) and I know these due dates are arbitary really.... but still! Where is my baby??????

I'm swinging between fear of the birth and a desperation to see what my baby looks like

If I get another phone call/text asking If I've had it yet I'll scream.

And lets not talk about the fact that i've gained 4lbs in the last week alone despite all the pregnancy books saying that you can actually lose weight in the last weeks....

anyone else?????

Baby due on Saturday, feeling just like you. Am desperate to see baby but I really, really want my poor stomach to feel better. My lunch took about four hours to digest today. I can't eat first thing any more as it makes me feel sick either. I am totally fed up with indigestion and heartburn. Although to be honest rest of pregnancy has been fine.
I am also totally afraid of going into labour but at same time really wanting it to start. Have been lurking aroudn some of the labour threads and taking in the advice that says each contraction means you are one step nearer seeing baby. Saying that, what if I have to have a CS!!! Have warned friends to avoid calling/texting until baby comes. xxx

liznay · 08/01/2009 18:54

ahh you have my sympathy...
My OH doesn't want me to leave the flat in case I go in to a spontaneous 60 minute labour whereby I deliver in the street/shop/car without him being there.
So I've been marooned in the flat for the last 3 days and am slowly going stir crazy.
Have arranged to meet with some NCT mums tomorrow, fingers crossed we go in to (a painfree!) labour soon

LoveActually · 08/01/2009 19:04

All my NCT mums have just had babies, but luckily my OH works from home, although he works 7am till 9pm! My mum brings my niece who's 4 round after nursery, which is breaking up the day a bit. I really want to eat some food and enjoy it!! The thought of that will keep me going through the pain, fingers crossed. Tonight could be the night! xx

BlueSapphire77 · 08/01/2009 19:14

Am one day overdue here

Want to see baby but worried about what bits are going to feel like afterwards lol
Selective memory of giving birth last two times have just evaporated and left me with nightmares lol

Don't want him to come today cos it's exp's birthday and don't wanna be reminded of him! Tmoz would be really nice, nice DOB and a friday so would have all weekend to ahh and coo over him and take him visiting

Can't wait!!

Tummum · 08/01/2009 19:38

Just wanted to add my support here. Both previous DC were 10 days late, and it's just horrible... in the end I stopped answering my phone because everyone kept calling for updates.

moosemama · 08/01/2009 20:02

5 days over here, have been getting loads of niggly twinges and the occasional isolated painful contraction for a few days, but no progress. Have a stinking cold and am generally uncomfortable and pretty p'd off.

Had an unsuccessful sweep on Monday that set off major spd despite this being the first of 3 pregnancies where I didn't get it.

My midwife is coming to try another sweep on Sunday, which is the full moon when apparently more babies are supposed to be born so fingers crossed for then.

Failing that have induction booked for Thursday 15th. Really don't want to do that though as am booked for a home birth.

Grumpy - who me?!

liznay · 08/01/2009 20:43

moosemama what is it with those niggly twinges? I have them every day and they amount to nothing. Woke up in the night convinced I was going in to labour only for it to be a false alarm.
Have heard about full moon's causing movement, but then anything that can affect the tide has got to have some kind of effect on our bodies given that we are 90% water. (i'm about 99% full of water at the moment )

Did a lot of nipple twiddling today and now have sore nipples

At least being inside I haven't had to endure any more 'do you know what you're having?' and 'not long now' comments

Apparently the grumpiness shows things are imminent. Chins up ladies, sure it won't be long now x

Question to recent or experienced mums? on behalf of my friend
I am a mum but had a very quick and straight forward delivery and it was 5 years ago.
She is due 26th, today I picked her up to go for a coffee and she started having period like pains, then it stopped and about half an hour later started again, she had a few tightenings accross her back,I took her home but she said she was okay and would just lie down, she called me a short while ago to say her legs felt funny and was she in labour?
what do ya reckon?

LoveActually · 09/01/2009 09:25

Hello choclatemummy, having not ever been in labour I couldn't say. Have been having lower back tightenings but no sign of baby. You posted last night so maybe baby has been born?!
I might try castor oil! That's what was recommended in another thread. x

sammysamsam · 09/01/2009 17:17

i did a lot of research on castor oil to speed up labour for me, but was adviced against it on a majority of health websites as it tends to 'open up' mums bowel movements which trigger labour (or sommat like that) BUT it can also have the same effect on babys bowels, and baby may very well open its bowels before being delivered.. the last thimg any mum wants to hear is the mw saying 'oh no, there's a greenish tinge of marconium in the waters!'..i steered clear.

LoveActually · 09/01/2009 17:20

No!! Mind you I haven't bothered buying any today, DP persuaded me to try the, ahem, more natural methods, and we are having a curry tonight. I love hot food and haven't had any for ages. My mum pointed out that if I get to 42 weeks the baby would be an aquarius, which apparently is a good thing?!

BlueSapphire77 · 09/01/2009 17:36

Only allowed to go 12 days over here. Booked for a sweep on tuesday

Tried: Sex
Hot curry
More sex
erm
more sex
Maybe i should try that one more time before giving up

hot bath
a lot of walking
bouncing on the trampoline (in the freezing cold) as MW actually said it might work.. i think even now she was tittering to herself as she walked out..

Want to go into labour naturally if poss got started with my DD and it led to a very long labour.

If i have one more phonecall off friends or relatives sounding amazed when i answer the phone, then asking if i am still here i think i'm going to go mental.

Might try that nipple twiddling thing just to get used to them being painful lol BF here i come !

missmelly · 09/01/2009 18:56

I have until 8pm tomorrow night to go into labour naturally, or I'm off to the hospital to be induced. I'm 40+10 today. Had post-date assesment yesterday and 3rd sweep from midwife and she seemed sure I would go into labour naturally and not need to be induced, but this baby sure is stubborn! I feel ok though, I'm not uncomfortable or anything, and sleeping ok, so not too worried. Good luck ladies

liznay · 09/01/2009 20:35

no news here either can't face another curry and worried about pooping out curry smelling poos on the delivery table if it does work.
I've got a sweep booked for Thur so maybe that will get things going.

bluesapphire LOL at image of you bouncing around on trampoline in minus 2 temperatures...

Loveactually I know what you mean about Aquarians, supposed to be more easy going than capricorns - but I'll take what i'm given at this stage

A long walk and some sex all round this weekend then ???

Lets hope the full moon works on Sunday and hopefully some more nice birth stories to read next week xx

dizzyg · 09/01/2009 21:14

due tomorrow!! getting fed up too, very selfish grandparents wantDH to mend their car this weekend, have politely told them that this is not turkey in belly, hoping to go into labour tonight! that would get up their noses!! gonna have lots of nookie and pineapple as read somewhere that is meant to help as well good luck everyone!!!!

moosemama · 09/01/2009 23:24

Still nothing happening here and will be a week past dates tomorrow.

Was hoping to take the dogs for a good long walk this weekend to get things going, but cold has taken a turn for the worse and now have a horrible cough and really painful sore throat, plus headache, runny nose and permanent sinus headache.

Am pinning hopes on Sunday's sweep, but just don't 'feel' like this is my weekend.

Good luck everyone, here's hoping at least some of us get a special delivery this weekend.

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 10/01/2009 10:47

i am due thursday and fed up
hoping that the full moon early tom morning has an affect and because it is the wknd

LoveActually · 10/01/2009 11:15

I have stocked up on as much sleep as possible. In fact I look too well rested. Curry last night didn't work, ditto raspberry leaf tea and sex. Am going to try a walk but like moosemama not sure if it baby's weekend. Maybe I'm in denial about having a baby still! They say the human mind never quite comes to terms with the responsibility/reality of being a parent as it's actually way too scary. Wonder if any of you have had your babies yet?! x

BlueSapphire77 · 10/01/2009 12:01

Nope..despite having a curry that would have made God himselfs eyes bleed i am still here lol

No sex cos DP is in a strop and there are no other suitable candidates (joke)
Am enjoying hating the silent treatment though.

Gave the trampoline idea a miss as well..cos i don't know if my NDN would phone the men in white coats to take me away if they saw me with all the curtain twitching they do.

Oh well there's time yet, only 40+3 now..but i swear i will kill any of the following:

Anyone who phones me and sounds shocked that i am answering the phone and not in the throes of labour.
The next person who says "You still here?"
Ditto next person who asks if i got my dates right.
Ditto the next person who mentions castor oil/curry/sex/hot bath
And it comes to something when even the postman is asking if i'm still here.

missmelly · 10/01/2009 14:40

lol bluesapphire
I guess they come when they're ready! Im getting ready to head off to hospital to evict my bubs - and it's snowing! dont blame the little one for not wanting to come out just yet. Good luck ladies!!

BlueSapphire77 · 10/01/2009 19:27

Got a sweep booked for tuesday

With THE most hurtful midwife on the planet, who feels where babys head in in my pelvis by digging her fingers in until she can feel my spine.

Am like.. totally.. not planning on letting her anywhere near my fanjo.

moosemama · 10/01/2009 19:45

Good luck missmelly hope its a really quick and easy one.

BlueSapphire77 · 10/01/2009 20:00

Oooo missmelly you jammy so n so

Hope it goes quickly! Good luck xxx

liznay · 11/01/2009 09:51

good luck mismelly!
Are the rest of us all still here and intact??
Went to the cinema last night and really thought labour was starting during the film (tightenings, period type pains, baby moving loads) but nothing has happened.
Am furiously massaging accupressure points on legs and hands now

OP posts:
LoveActually · 11/01/2009 10:11

No nothing here. Had that heavy tightening feeling, bit of backache last night, but that was it.
My sister just sent me a text saying she had a feeling the baby was about to be born. My DP has also (semi) jokingly'given me permission to give birth' having finished a job he was working on. He timed it so he could work over this weekend i.e have it finished so he could take a couple of weeks off (although he works from home anyway) for baby.
Feeling a bit under pressure now.
Things that I hope will keep me going through labour because I'm really scared to be honest.

Being able to eat without having indigestion/hearburn.
Treating myself to a really expensive haircut/highlights.
Being able to give baby to DP to cuddle and look after.
Being able to sleep on my back.
Being able to drink coffee, champagne (we have a bottle on ice) and tea oh and eat cheese and bread!
Feeling like 'me' again, except even better because I'm a mum.
