have been to my doctos today and been told that i am having a prolapse of the cervix, should mention i am 12+5 and has been nearly 2 years since dd was born. not had any other problems regarding this so can only presume its the pregnancy??
anyway the doctor wouldn't/couldn't answer any of my questions. he says ill ahve to wait for an obstetrics appointment. has anyone gone through this whilst being pregnant? or answer any of my questions?

  1. am i still going to be able to carry baby to term?
  2. will i have a normal delivery?
  3. are my whole insides likely to fall out if i have a natural labour!?
i have more but thats it for now!

Hi Lydia, is there a difference between a cervical prolapse and incompetent cervix? If it is the latter, then they may recommend a stitch. Several posters here have had one put in and carried to term. I am currently having my cervix monitored by cervical scans to check there is no premature shortening following a leetz treatment, but I had to nag for it.

Hopefully somebody will post with more experience than me on this (didn't want to leave you hanging on!)

thanks loooouise the doctor definately said it is my cervix falling down. the only thing he could say was they may put some sort of implement up in to my cervix to hold it up during the duration of the pegnancy but will probably need surgery after the birht to "pull it back up" x

I am so frightened about this happening after the birth of dc3 in March, things definitely aren't where they should be at the moment and after a google session and a look at some pics on the channel 4 most embarassing illness' programme website, I'm certain that mine is prolapsed already, although I'm guessing not too severely, or surely a midwife or gp (smear test) would have mentioned it?! I'll be watching this thread with interest although I'm sorry I can't be any help!

Oh poor you, hope you're not too frantic. Sounds like it's something that can be managed though. I hope they're looking after you x
