I'm really struggling - i've got aan 18 month old ds and am in the early stages of my next pregnancy but feel awful. I have no energy and am being sick the whole time. At the moment I can't imagine how I am going to cope with 9 months of this. How did any of you manage?

I managed! And you will manage - I realised that unfortunately I kind of had too - life is very unfair! At that point DS was a hyperactive fool who hated c beebies. Trying to remember how I coped now...

  • get friends over with children - he will be entertained and they may take pity on you and let you slouch on sofa!
  • nursery (although was still working but in a flexible job so he stayed there for a few hours whilst I had a break).
  • family to help out when they can? Any suitable teenagers you know who would play with him for a bit for a few pounds? getting dh to get up on the weekends
  • getting out where he could run about - found it easier than in the house

Trying things to make MS more bearable - homeopathy, reflexology, lucozade - whatever works for you.

On the plus side his vocabulary became much more varied "mummy sick again" lol. I know it is awful and I have so much empathy for you. Its an awful thing to have to cope with when you feel so crap. When you dont have to do anything, dont. Look after yourself. Count down the weeks - it will go - perhaps sooner than you think.

Hugs xxx

  • too many new toys!

Can totally sympathise. In the same boat.

I'm finding TV, TV, and more TV is helping. Not being too bothered about what they eat or when they eat. I've got my mum coming over to help and ds is in nursery two mornings a week.

I'm trying acupuncture later this week and have just got some different drugs from gp to see if they help.

I would add one thing to Peppa's list - be incredibly kind to yourself and do what you have to do to get through it.

For me that meant lying horizontal on the sofa for the first part of the morning with a bucket by my head and cbeebies on the TV for DS. I had childproofed the room and knew I could shut my eyes and he would be ok. He watched a lot of TV during the first trimester but it saved my sanity!

aww it is very hard, hopefully it will get better.
Can you get someone to help you for a while by taking your ds for an hour or two to give you a break? x

Nemoandthefishes · 05/01/2009 14:29

aww it will pass
and it does get easier although did find the school run a struggle this time and much harder than being home with tots.
I have a 5,3 and 2 today and am 16wks with no.4 you watch a lot fo tv and do a lot of at home activites in the first few weeks.

I went through this too. It's awful isn't it? DD1 had norovirus too at one stage and when she was sick I had to thrust a towel under her and run to the bathroom. I felt like the worst mother in the world that my child was ill and I wasn't comforting her.
Anyway, to echo everyone else - take all the help that is offered, completely downscale your expectations of what you can get done in a day and cbeebies is your friend. I hope it ends soon for you.

I have to agree i just put dvds on tv,a blanket on the floor and lay watching tv with dd1 when i was really bad.

Or i went to my parents my mom or dad would take her out for a walk and i had a snooze on the sofa!

I feel quite lucky now as my 2 dds are 9 and 7 (8 in 3 weeks) and they look after me at the min and they are back to school today so i have been able to relax all day! my ms has just started to go away and im 25 weeks.
