Prenancy after Ectopic?

I had an ectopic a few years ago, lost left tube, and I'm no TTC again without any success so far.

I don't actually know of anyone who has had a successful pregnancy after EP so I thought I'd ask on MN.

Need stories of encouragment and inspiration to keep my spirits up!!!

I have had three successful pregnancies after ectopic and know of other success stories. Lots of luck.

Hi memoo,
Sympathies for you regarding ectopic. I had one in 2007 and am now pg again, due next month. Like you I also lost a tube and this does reduce fertility slightly, although not quite as much as 50% like I originally thought it would. Hang in there, be good to yourself and things will work out for you. I (and others on here) are living, blooming proof that successful pregnancy after ectopic can and does happen. Good luck!

Memoo,

Hi there...I have written on a number of ectopic threads having had 2 in the past.

I am sorry you have not conceived. How long have you been trying? As you can see there are plenty of success stories after ectopics which is great.

It turned out that in my case I had minute damage to both tubes and would not have been able to conceive without assisted conception. Whilst continuing to try for a baby have you thought about starting to explore assisted conception as a possibility. The tests can take a long time so if you conceive in the meantime, brilliant...if not you will have options in the pipeline. That's the route I took and I now have a DD (7 months) through IVF.

Best of luck NS XXXX

thanks for the replys. We have been trying for 8 months so i know its not long in the grand scheme of things but its so frustrating. With my first two DC I conceived so easily, my third pregancny was the EP and I actually had a mirena coil fitted but still became pregnant. So i think now its a bit of a shock to find that its not happening straight away.

Newbishad, I am defiantely going to go and see my GP so I can get the relevant tests done. It will give me something to focus on in the meantime. What test do they do, is it like a laparoscopy (sp?)

Memoo,

I can't honestly remmeber what tests were prescribed by the doctor because it was so far back and I've got them confused with those ordered by the Assisted Conception Clinics. I do know a hormone profile was done over the course of a month (progestrone levels, day 21) and I was booked in for a laparoscopy. The waiting time for the laparoscopy was about 3-6 months (we were in Ireland) but I never went because I had the first ectopic before it.

In my case the laparoscopy was a bit of a red hearing. I had 2 done over the course of four years (one at the time of my first ectopic and one a year later on my remaining tube as I had still failed to conceive). Both were normal but I went on to have a second ectopic in my supposidly healthy tube. Over the years I spent a lot of time persuading consultants something was wrong and insisting on referral to a specialist clinic. They were slow to believe me but in my case I was absolutley right. Had I not persisted my DD would not be with us now and I would still be trying.

I hope you conceive quickly (without all that, plenty have.)I wish you all the luck in the world with your appointments. Let us know how you get on.

Oh by the way have you thought of speaking to the ectopic pregnancy trust?

Love NS XXX

Hi... Just thought I would let you know that my mum had an ectopic 25 years ago (I knnow it's a long time..but theres a point to the story) she lost her left fallopian tube and ovary...2years later i was born at full term with no complications. I hope that can offer some reaasurance to you

EmmaPP · 23/01/2009 19:53

a very good friend of mine had an eptopic and like you lost a tube as a result. It did take her 18 months to conceive, but she's now almost 8 months pregnant, so all good! She did see a naturopath to make sure she was in tip top health wise...and that is when she then conceived, not sure if that was coincidence or not. Think they gave her some herbs or something. She also was starting to have tests at hospital with hubby, to see why they hadnt conceived - so it's never too early to start asking about that i guess. good luck.

snuffyp · 23/01/2009 20:00

My friend had a ectopic and fell pregnant really quickly

MauriceDancer · 23/01/2009 20:04

hooray! was just about to tell you that i had two ectopics and have conceived twice thereafter with total, in fact rather lovely, success. i hope you get the same.

lizmcfizz · 24/01/2009 09:24

The ectopic pregnancy trust is such a brilliant support - I have had a miscarriage, a corneal ectopic which had to be treated with methatrexate and then a pregnancy of 'unknown location' ie didn't know where it ended up and it was great to chat to people in the same boat. I am now 32 weeks pregnant! It does happen but I would advise anyone trying for longer than a few months to see a specialist. My hospital has been absolutely brilliant. There is no need to suffer in silence - help is out there and the sooner you get it the better.
Good luck!! x

Hi all
I notice that no one has posted here in 4 years so wanted to leave a msg for any recent viewers who may come across this post.
I myself had an ectopic pregnancy in aug 12 which resulted in the removal of my left tube. I would like to say never give up hope. I myself am now 18 weeks pregnant. I am sorry if you have been affected by EP and wish you all the luck and plenty of baby dust for the future.

PuffPants · 23/01/2013 16:04

I had an ectopic in the summer, had my left tube removed, fertility reduced to 65% apparently....We waited till December to start ttc again and it happened first time, am now 7 weeks. I'm in my mid-thirties and previous pregnancies have taken around 6 months to conceive.

Hope this gives you hope too!
