Anyone have a quinny speedi?

Pros and cons?

I've been thinking of getting a quinny buzz but the seat looks so uncomfortable!

I had a quinny buzz with my fisrt child (now aged 3.5)

I liked it, in the main. It was easy to use, fairly light and faced both ways.

My problems with it were

(1) it was always getting punctures on country paths

(2) once the baby reached a certain weight, the weight distribution was all wrong and it was hard to steer in a straight line in the mum-facing position if you laid the baby back a bit

(3) it was a bit rickety and squeaky

However, it was better than other prams at the time. We nearly bought a bugaboo but glad we didn't as DD couldn't get her head under the hood by 15 months!

I had a buzz for DS (now 2.8). Loved it for first 6 months - but when DS got older suffered the same problems as Mogwai - and DS stopped fitting in it at 2 years old! However I understand that the later models of the buzz have rectified these problems and is a smoother ride from other threads on it.

yeah they say it goes up to 4 years but there's just no way. Better than a bugaboo though.

TBH my advice is to get a top of the range Maclaren. You'll want one within about 5 months, whatever your "original" pram is.

I think on the newer model buzz they actually provide a second larger seat (so you could fit the kids in for longer) but still have my doubts about it fitting to 4...

GWIW I will be going for top of range Maclaren for no 2 when he's around 4/5 months (with buggy board for DS1) - until then will be sling or Buzz with Dreami cot (would like to think I'll then have had almost 2.5 years worth of use out of it!)

We have a Speedi - it was good when DS was tiny and used the Dreami carrycot. However it is very heavy to push and put in the car boot etc, and not particularly easy to steer around town and get through narrow doors. The seat unit was ok for a few months, but from about 10-12mths DS started to get fed up because the seat does not go anywhere near upright - its a wierd semi-reclined position that he found really uncomfortable and meant that he couldn't see out beyond the sides of the hood. By 12mths we'd moved onto a Zapp.

Get a Phil and Ted's - the only pushchair you will ever need!

I have a Buzz- It's OK, great suspension for bumpy paths but mine has had about 6 punctures (within 14 months) and had to have the inner tube replaced. The front wheel was stuck too but was fixed once I cleaned it thoroughly! The seat became really small for my DS at about 10 months but Dorel sent me out free extender straps and a deeper seat (current model no longer has this problem). Pros are that my DS loves it, the carrycot is fab and doubles as a moses basket, fairly easy to get about and easy to put up and down.

I had a very similar experience to babypringle.. I had the Speedi.. it was great with the dreami carrycot and for putting the carseat on when going shopping with the car.. but very wide, very heavy and very difficult to get in and out of the boot.. I had an astra for a short while and with nothing else in the boot I had to take the wheels off every time. The raincover was really poor too.
I have gone onto a Mclaren Techno XT, light narrow and easy..

Good luck whatever you decide.. but all in the speedi cost us £600 an expensive 6 months..

have to say neither. Speedi is heavey and does not fold small.

Hi
I had a Buzz and sold it as soon as I could and got a Maclaren as did my sil who also had one.
It is very wide and actually got stuck going through a couple of supermarket check outs.
Takes up a lot of boot space.
Have a tall and broad shouldered son who was already looking uncomfotable in it fairly early on.
This time we will just stick with a Maclaren.
