I wondered if anyone out there wanted to join me in this thread?

I'm 7 weeks and am so sick. Was nauseous with DS1 but nothing like this.

We could share how rubbish we feel, and any things we've found that help. I'm trialling the sea bands this morning - put them on a few minutes ago so we'll see!

Has anyone gone down the route of medication? I'm seriously thinking of it in order to carry on working after the New Year.

Looking forward to sharing my nausea with others!

hi picante! im not pregnant at the moment but have suffered with severe hyperemesis in both prgnancies - i know how awful you must be feeling!

I spent a lot of time in hospital whilst pregnant with dd as i was very dehydarated due to constant vomitting.

I took mediacation (anti-emetics) for both pregnancies. They were an absolute life line for me. The sickness was sooo consuming and debilitating in my second pregancy that i had a termination booked at 12 weeks. I finally got given a very strong antemetic called zofran which worked and enabled me to carry on.

Its so hard for people to understand how mentally and physically exhausting it is to feel (and be) so sick all day every day. Ime, you have to ram it home to your GP that it is not 'normal' everyday morning sickness and that youre finding it hard to cope - otherwise they wont do much for you.

there was a website that was helpful for me whilst i was ill. i'll be back with the link now...

here

annoyingly it looks like the UK version (blooming awful) has closed down! have a look at the american version above though - will have some good info..

Picante · 29/12/2008 12:48

Thanks gertie, I'm nowhere near as bad as that, that must have been awful. The sea-bands seem to be working a bit today - wish they looked slightly more attractive!

Bumping for anyone else...

you can try acupuncture, i know others who have gone to a homeopath and that's worked for them.

sucking ice lollies really helps too. does your nausea ease a bit after youve eaten?

Picante · 29/12/2008 13:56

Yes, unless I've eaten too much! Have to pretty much eat constantly which takes away all the joy of food!

I will investigate acupuncture, I'd like to avoid medication if possible.

eating little and often definately helps. at the beginning (before it REALLY kicked off ) i would just keep a pack of dry biscuits by my side and eat those throughout the day.

agree if you can stay off the meds it's better - but if it gets worse dont suffer through it. see your doc for advice.

oooh, sipping flat lemonade seemed to work for me too...

Cherrybaby · 29/12/2008 15:59

Things that worked for me:

Sucking lemons! And any variation on the lemons, eg lemon squeezed in hot water, over food etc.

Not drinking anything before Ive eaten first thing in the morning, because drinking on an empty stomach really made it worse.

Eating crackers first thing in morning in bed seemed to settle my tummy somewhat.

ALWAYS having a snack with me in my handbag when I went out, so if i started feeling sick, i'd quickly have one.

I'm 26 weeks ..by week 13-14 the sickness had faded away, so don't dwell on it too much!
