Im seeing my consultant to discuss it on 22nd of january but worried about reaction ill get and feel a bit embarresed about asking so wondered what you guys thought? here is brief reason....

I live approx 150 mile from my friends and family, we moved here due to my hubbys work (promotion basicly) its a tiny village in the sticks in cumbria... there is a hospital 28 mile away but they only have a MRU and wont deliver me due to my previous 2 births been complicated and im a high risk pregnancy the nearest hospital that will deliver me is 60 odd mile away. The problem with this is my last labour lasted under 1 hour (48 min) and i will never make it to the hospital in time if this happens again, i realise a solution to this would be just call an ambulance and cross my legs lol! but 2nd prob is i also i have no1 to have my children if i go into labour when my husband isnt around he now works away quite a bit and even when hes at his main work place its still a good 45-50 min drive away, hes also due to be working away my due week!!! and cannot change it really as too much would be at stake for him career wise. If i was induced and had a date my mum would take a holiday from work and come and stay here with the kids while i went in to have the baby and my hubby would prob also be able to make the labour.

So theres the story if you have made it this far lol! what you think my chances of getting induced at 38 weeks are?

milliemoo I'm VERY close to you - email me on mamagbookclub @ hotmail dot co dot uk

i had ds2 7 weeks ago at Lancaster

SleighGirl · 28/12/2008 17:07

my latest was the largest 10lb 6oz, I measured small for dates though even though I looked huge & lots of strangers asked if it was twins. They did panick when she was born as the size was so unexpected, grade 3 meconium, not interested in eating and I'm only 5'1". Next times were easier because I refused blood sugar monitoring on them and discharged myself after 6 hours - I love hospital me, not.

MamaG · 28/12/2008 17:12

(btw if you are really stuck, I could have your older dc if you do go into labour, I'm close enough )

milliemoocow · 28/12/2008 17:14

(Ahem. Can I just add that DS2 was 10lb 9oz when he was born 7 weeks ago!)

Surely your Dh's job can't be at risk because he needs to be with you when you go into labour?

SleighGirl · 28/12/2008 17:21

It was more the fact the kept telling me I absolutely wasn't having a big baby and my first was only 7lb6oz. My tummy has twin skin - it's vile!

Dread to think how heavy she would have been if she had been a boy and I hadn't been induced when they did!

milliemoocow · 28/12/2008 17:48

I cant imagine having a 10lb baby a 7lb one hurt enough... bet if u bought newborn clothes they didnt fit when the baby arrived lol!!!

no they didn't she had to put on trousers & a top and the trousers only just came past her knees, they had to borrow socks from SCUBU for her - she still has long legs & is very tall now at 6. She was 6 mnths old before she hit the height centiles in the baby book! My dh and his family are all very tall, completely all his fault (and perhaps a little bit me for being capable of growing such big & healthy babies).

I don't think it's anymore painful as they still have similar size heads regardless of their length/weight unless tiny?

milliemoocow · 28/12/2008 17:54

Kirkby has found memories for me, going down that steep hill too fast at the age of 18 when I'd just passed my test......

milliemoocow · 28/12/2008 17:59

I think my smaller 1 was easier to give birth to but that may have something to do with fact that i had given birth b4 and therefore my body was prob more prepared 4 labour lol! im sure its reasuring tho 4 all the women expecting large babies that it doent hurt anymore. never having had a 10lb baby i wouldnt no but i still wouldnt like to find out haha

No I used to live in the North East so used the A66 to travel across and then down to visit my friend at Lancs Uni - nearly killed myself, no crash but I was much much much more careful every other time after that. Still a vivid memory after 18 years!

I love Lancaster & Cumbria, lots of happy memories and still visit my friend who lives there (a short walk from the hospital tbh!)
