This is going to sound a bit odd...

but I'm 32 weeks and every now and again it feels as though the baby is 'fitting' inside me (as in having a fit).

It is no.4 and I haven't felt this before so I wondered if anyone else has?

It's a bit like the flutters you first got when feeling the baby move for the first time but stronger. At first I thought she must be kicking (like a dog does when it scratches itself) but she couldn't move that fast surely.

Ooh, perhaps she has special powers and can pummel other babies at top speed....
She can certainly hoof me enough in the night!

Sorky - hope all ends up ok but glad you're getting it checked. Hopefully it's just a matter of putting your mind at rest.
Thinking of you.

Just got back from the hospital. They don't know what it is, possibly a muscle spasm.

At 29 weeks, some of you may remember I had a 'funny turn', which we thought might have been the baby turning suddenly and becoming fully breech.
It was exactly that, she has now thankfully turned back round. So if nothing else that has sorted out that query we had too.

Heart fine, palpation fine, size and waters all fine. Placenta located at top and posterior so they don't think she's lying on it when I lie on my side which can et off these movements.

I see the CMW on Friday and if I'm still worried then I'll tell her too.

She wrote ceph palpation 2/5, is that 2/5 can be felt or 2/5 in is the pelvis?

at least its reassured you going in eh!!

hopefully it is just muscle spasm's or something... i'm sure if it was anything more then it'd be picked up.

laweaselmys · 17/12/2008 20:07

Spoke to midwife as well - they think my baby is just stuck in breech and is just going a bit crazy trying to turn around not bothered about her being breech so all is well.

Glad everything is fine with you too sorky!

Lemontart · 17/12/2008 20:20

so pleased that the hospital appointment went so well and they found nothing wrong x
I could be wrong, but from what I remember 2/5 means 2/5th engaged in the pelvis. Hopefully someone who was pregnant a little more recently might be able to confirm my rather vague memories (or prove me wrong!) sorry if I am wrong and remembering incorrectly.

HeinzSight · 17/12/2008 20:22

I had this too. It's to do with the baby's immature nervous system, perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

Good luck and congrats

Sorkycake

Hello, dont worry love I am not sure what this is but I had the same with DD1. It was so strange and it felt like she was really angry or shaking or fitting like u said. This happened a few times in the after 34 weeks, no-one could explain what was happening and I couldnt find anything on the internet about it. So was v worried, but it was all fine I have a very happy and healthy DD1.

Take care and try not to worry xx

littleboyblue · 17/12/2008 21:02

Sorky I have exactly the same thing. All the time!! It almost feels like a dance, a big shiver and just a general shaking. I have these movements more often than a standard kick.
I also had it all through with ds and there was no problem with his cord or anything, it wasn't knotted and it wasn't round his neck.
Personally, I'm not concerned about it for myself, but do let us know what happens and what mw says if you speak to her.
Do hope you are ok.

LynetteScavo · 17/12/2008 21:08

sorkycake - I had this with DS2 , but not DS1 or DD.

After DS2 was born, he continued to sort of shiver/shake, and I was never worried about it.

However...the midwife whitnessed it once when he was a couple of days old, and was concerned it may be due to low blood sugar (or something ) and said if it happed again to let her know and he wold be admitted to hostpital.

As he's done t before he was born, and he was feeding well I was confident it wasn't low blood sugar, and all has been well.

This is the 2nd time I have posted on a thread on this subject, so there are babies out there that do this for some reason..I'm just not sure why.

RambleOn · 17/12/2008 21:36

I've had the same thing through this pregnancy (am now nearly 37wks), but didn't through my first.

If it's any comfort, this pregnancy has been the most heavily monitored in history! Scans, checks on blood flow through cord, fetal heartrate monitoring, fluid measuring all done three times a week. They've never found any problems.

Hope this reassures.

sorkycake · 17/12/2008 21:59

Thank you sooooo much for all the replies. I am reassured by your replies
We'll just have to wait and see if everything is okay when she arrives, but fingers crossed it sounds good.
I'm due a scan to check presentation at 37 weeks ready for my HWB, so I might mention it to the Consultant then if still worried.

MN is fab!

I had this with DB#4 and i was paranoid. The ObGyn thought that I had lost the plot when I tried to explain what I felt.

FWIW she is now nearly 3 and no signs of fits or any other menacing symptoms. I sure remember the worry that you must be feeling and I would suggest that you ask your midwife just in case but don't be surprised by a non answer.

How often does it happen? Perhaps keep track in a diary and then you will sound organised and serious when you ask what it might be?
