Bit daft I know but my first was born in the middle of very hot summer so lived in nappy and vest till Autumn. What do I need for winter baby? WIll ordinary babygros do or will I need terry towelling ones? Long sleeved vests or short? Do newborns wear tights? What tog
grobag? Sorry to sound so thick but struggling a bit x

Layers!

Should imagine tights would be a nightmare while DC still in the newborn 'furled' position.

Use any grobags you have but put a thin blanket over. DC will still be at risk of overheating, so keep an eye on the thermometer in the bedroom and keep the temp down. You might want long sleeved vests if changing nappies in the cold, but otherwise short sleeved under a jumper/cardi should be fine. And lots of hats, socks and mittens!

Have fun! My DS was end of Jan and I thought it was easier to bundle him up than be always worried about him overheating - there's only so many clothes you can take off, but you don't have to stop adding until they're spherical

ds1 was Jan baby I just had normal babygros and short sleeved vests - some velour type ones for really cold days with cardigans to add layers. Grobag was just a standard 2.5 one. I found that generally he didn't need as mucha s I thought he would iyswim!

Oh and if life starts to seem uneventful then leave the socks on while changing nappy [evil festive grin]

ds1 was dec baby. I had vests and then babygros - normal cotton ones - and blankets for layers as needed.

DD was born end of Dec and I found long sleeved vests too much like hard work - is so awkward to get their little hands/fingers down the sleeves and then the sleepsuit snags on the vest iyswim - short sleeved much easier.

You'll prob be surprised how warm your house is in winter, so unless you are out you won't need more than vest and sleepsuit while sleeping and perhaps a cardigan for when awake and out of bed. I'd buy a decent pramsuit for outdoors though.

Our DC2 is due in 4 weeks - will have to get round to having a high summer baby some time!

DS was born in September and is now mostly wearing velour sleepsuits (v toasty) in the day. Thick fleece pramsuit with feet and fold over mitts when we are out, with ls vest underneath.
