Did you show off your bump?

Did you show off your bump when pregnant / or do you if you are pregnant now?

I am not really talking about just wearing tight tops etc, I mean letting it all hang out so to speak!

I was thinking about it earlier when I saw a woman walking along dressed in a short tshirt, trousers and her bump inbetween. She looked very pregnant iyswim, and had lots of stretch marks to boot. (I have lots of those still!)

I just didn't think it looked 'nice' - don't know why, maybe I am old fashioned. What are your thoughts?

I'm with Tinker - I'm way too old for one thing. I reckon that if you wouldn't/shouldn't show your midriff off when not pg why start once you are.

suzywong · 21/03/2005 10:47

yes me too on the not once your are over 30 for showing flesh but yes to tight tops. It really isn't very becoming for the older lady

lunavix · 21/03/2005 10:52

Newbarnsleygirl - ditto! I spent most of my pregnancy wearing 'normal' clothes - most of which stretched over my bump iyswim. I thought buying maternity clothes was a waste of money for a few months - looked in my wardrobe these few weeks and realised how many normal clothes I have I have rarely worn - next time I'm definately having some lovely maternity clothes.

I didn't show my bump off, but I was a winter pregnany, so there wasn't really the weather for it. Plus I was huge (put on 5 stone ) so it wouldn't have been pretty.

No I didn't. Each to their own I guess, but I think it looks a bit vulgar. Except in Maisystar's case where I am sure she looked gorgeous

I'm a prissy old madam though. Don't like crop tops even on washboard perfect stomachs.

maisystar · 21/03/2005 11:26

rofl hmc

i did (of course) look gorgeous

have to say i'm glad i did show my bump off cos there's no way i could now(and i'm not pg)

didn't 'expose' my bump but wore fitted tops all way through, was my bid to get a seat on public transport! didn't really work tho!

Gobbledigook · 21/03/2005 11:42

No, kept skin covered but tight tops sometimes - had very neat bump, all at the front and no stretchmarks or blemishes but still didn't want it on show!

emmatmg · 21/03/2005 12:31

That's it GDK, our twin ship is over!

No stretch marks!?!?!?!.......I refuse to be a twin to anyone who's stretchmarkless

Gobbledigook · 21/03/2005 12:32

NOOOOOOOO!! Ahhhh, please be my twin!!

emmatmg · 21/03/2005 12:33

Oh and no I didn't show off my bump. didn't need to as I was massive, people could see from a mile off!

dropinthe · 21/03/2005 12:33

Just say no!!!

ThomCat · 21/03/2005 12:37

At home it was out all the time in the summer. I loved it. Would wear combats under the bump and a little vest top.

In public, out of the house, no never, it wasalways covered.

I personally love to see a pregnant women, makes me smile, but have no desire to see their bump uncovered when out and about.

motherinferior · 21/03/2005 12:40

Sorry, I flashed. I am not usually a flasher, but with my second pregnancy it was bloody hot, and I work from home, and the only pregnancy clothes I had at that point were drawstring trousers and vests, so yes I flashed inadvertantly but prominently. So if you were driving along the Catford bit of the South Circular in summer 2003 and saw a short redhead with a pumpkin on display, that was me.

Quite honestly I find the whole bump thing so vile and unbearable - total bloody strangers feeling they have a right to comment on your body from four months on - that a bit of display was neither here nor there.

edodgy · 21/03/2005 12:46

I think its cool to show off your bump if your what i call "popstar pregnant" You know where u look slim apart from your smooth un stretched marked belly, with combats and tshirt and belly revealed. However im not slim when im not pregnant and wouldnt dream of revealing my belly pregnant or not ..i wouldnt subject the world to that LOL
