Any experience of pain from previous stitches in subsequent pregnancy?

DD1 was a big baby, natural birth and quite a few internal stitches. Seemed to heal OK, though the scar tissue has always been quite sensitive. I know by pelvic floor is not what it was.

I am now 30 weeks pg with baby 2 and I can really feel the pull on my pelvic floor. I've also been getting a kind of dull ache in what I think is the stitched area from last time.

Doesn't help that I have a rotten cold and cough. Everything aches generally and each time I cough or sneeze I feel the pain there and like my bottom area might just fall out!

Has anyone had a similar experience? Not sure if I should be concerned or if this is just par for the course and another "delight" of pregnancy!

I asked about something similar when I was in the first trimester. I had episiotomy and stitches and was feeling pain/ sensation at that site. Whilst it healed up nicely afterwards, since being pg this time I have definately been aware of my previous episitomy site... when I asked on here about it, most people said it would be due to increased blood flow to the area/ pressure from bub. HTH!

Thanks hairymcleary - reassuring to know I am not the only one at least!

Yes - midwife says it is normal.
Another delight!

Oh joy - is there any end to the "delightful" new things I discover about pregnancy everyday!

I have the same problem - old episiotomy scar swollen and sore - am 33 weeks. My doctor told me that whenever you are ill or not feeling great an old scar wound can become inflammed and tender so I am putting it down to that! Tea Tree Cream seems to help sooth...

kinkent - it is horrible isn't it. Reminds you of what is to come all over again too!

Good tip about Tea Tree Cream - though my stitches were mainly internal so not sure if suitable. Might try oil in the bath as that helped immediately after the birth last time.
