I have 1 week to go with dc3 and am getting so fed up with people asking if I have had it yet or makin stupid comments when I do the school run. FFS my due date is not for another week and I had one dd who was early and one who was late - so no idea when this one is coming, despite having backache and conractions for the past 10 days.

Any suggestions for responses or anyone else in the same situation?

I had had mine when two people didn't notice.

Just say clearly not when they ask.

Can you just look at them look at your bump and back to them? It may make them feel a but silly without being too direct and they will think twice next time...

SAmbiClaus · 30/11/2008 17:06

Ahh, you do the school run - I was going to suggest ignoring the phone calls/ text messages/ facebook etc.

I like the clearly not one newme.

ButIForgetMyself · 30/11/2008 18:45

I'm the opposite - I'm so small of bump at 35+5 that yesterday, in the hairdressers, when I mentioned I was on maternity leave, they asked me who was looking after the baby. Ermmm, ME, it's in there, honest...

Not a day goes by without someone telling me I'm "small", "tiny", "neat" - my Facebook is plastered with comments from people asking me when I'm going to start to show. I FEEL massive! It's still really heavy! I'm not a small person - 5' 6", not fat but curvy enough to be a size 16.

Was getting very worried at one point, but all measurements show that whilst not a huge baby, it's around the 50th centile.

But all the comments are getting on my nerves - imagine if there WAS a problem with the baby's growth, every single comment would bring it home every single time.

Tell them "No, but do you mind if I punch you in the face? It might help bring on labour."

Sorry, no wouldn't really do that. I am a nice, non-violent person, honest [innocent]

I get this all the time. I have just under 2 weeks to go.

I just say "not yet" but I am so tempted to say "Yes DH has taken him to work with him and this isn't a bump, I have just eaten loads of pies"

cravingchocolate · 30/11/2008 19:00

Mrsgboring I like that suggestion - could just imagine doing that amongst the shiny 4x4s at the snooty nursery!!

The way that people look at me when I tell them that I still have a week (possibly 3) to go - you would think that I am holding it in on purpose or that I have the gestational period of an elephant!

Dreading the school run tomorrow - may be very early to try to avoid people!

I too am expecting number 3 (my due date is Thursday....)

About two weeks ago my daughters teacher came running out saying "DD1 tells me you are having your baby tomorrow!" Great - thanks DD1!

Anyway, just like you, I have had loads of contractions and actually thought it was the real thing last night but then they just fizzled out. Have you heard that third babies have a tendency to start and stop, or is this just nonsense???

Sorry, I haven't answered your question but looking at the responses with interest!

cravingchocolate · 30/11/2008 19:47

Have heard from several people that number 3 can mess around and then when it does come it is pretty quick.

I am fed up with the backache, contractions etc which get worse in the evenings then just fade away - with the other two I had nothing before the proper contractions started! fed up with these false alarms and fed up with being sent into the hospital by my midife to be monitored!

Good luck for Thursday!!

Baby number 3 (labour 2) the midwife thought on friday I was in early labour. Sunday night started properly, baby born about 13 hours later.

wellbalanced · 01/12/2008 21:04

I was going to suggest changing your answering machine to 'NO... xxxxx has not had the baby yet, im just sick of telling you all...' but this wont work for sch run..

Good luck... Keep sane!!!
