Bleeding from bum - piles?

Hi, most mornings now when I get up and wee, I get fresh blood on TP coming from my bum. I am in 34th week. I realized that the more I sit the more I get this. I do not have any pains, even on the no.2 and can not see anything unusual when I see myself in the mirror. Could this be internal haemorrhoids? Anybody had a similar experience and did GP do anything to stop this? Thank you!

It probably is a visit from farmer giles - that would be the most likely cause of bum blood in an otherwise healthy preggers woman. Something like 40% of us (me included!) will get haemorrhoids, and apparently they are more likely to become evident/bleed in the final trimester due to increased pressure on veins around anus as baby grows. They can, as you suggest, be inside or outside.

The blood is usually quite bright red and usually seen (as you also said) on TP rather that throughout poo. If you can't see anything in the mirror to confirm your self diagnosis, you might want to get GP to check to put your mind at rest, but its unlikely they will suggest any treatment other than anusol or preparation H unless they are causing extreme discomfort, pain or blood loss. Mine have been almost entirely painless - even when passing stools. Only occasionally if I spent too long on my feet and/or let myself get dehydrated, did they get a bit inflamed and cause itching/discomfort.

They may get worse before they get better as baby grows, but then they will probably clear up themselves after birth. Sleep on your LHS if you can - apparently this helps the blood flow back away from the bum. Drink plenty of water and eat lots of hi- fibre food (fruit/veg) and/or fibre supplement drinks. Doing these things has definitely kept mine at bay. Hope this info is useful.

Fantastic, thanks so much! I thought so but was just concerned that I did not feel any pain. I am glad that somebody else experienced the same (sorry, I'd rather if you did not, you know what I mean). As you say, the blood is very bright.

I did not want to go to the GP since I do not like that man at all. I always feel that I seem to waste his precious time .

I'm not sure, if you have piles it normally bleeds when you poo not wee surely?

brettgirl - Thanks, I meant that when I go first time in the morning to the loo (and do not poo) then I still have blood on the paper even though if I only wee. Sorry for the confusion.

Although I had my last dd 11 yrs ago i recently got an itchy bum when sitting down, thought I had worms - yuk , but on lying down really close to a full length mirror with legs up in the air, discovered smallish piles- a bit like saggy bits of skin. I'm not for a minute suggesting that at 34 wks you do the same as its really uncomfortable even w/o being pregant. There are creams you can get and one of them is suppsed to be more natural than the others - I think it's preparation H, but check...
