Ladies not worried just curious, anyone know anything about having a placenta to the front like this? with DS it was posterior so this is new to me. Will I feel fewer kicks and could it be an issue for a natural labour? thanks

My placenta was anterior with DD but I felt movements from 16 weeks and it didn't affect anything as far as I know.

I did read that babies often like to 'face' the placenta so I wasn't sure if that meant more chance of OP baby/back to back labour but I ended up with a CS for other reasons so I'm not much help am I??

I too have an anterior placenta and have not felt any movement im 20+4 with my 1st, i did worry a little until my scan when they said i may not feel anything until 24-30 wk!! I dont think it affects labour but im not 100%

It is not a problem in itself at all. But you may find that some or all (or none) of the following are true

Less (later) movement
more likey to be back to back (as they like to face placenta. May make labour more difficult
May make it hard for MW to hear the "actual" hb. but many cheat and use the placental flow anyway (which will be loud and clear!)- and the placental flow tells the MW the same thing - so it isn't actually a problem

What stage are you? If you are in the early stages it is possible for the placenta to "move" a bit so don't start worrying about a back to back labour yet.

Both mine have ben anterior. Felt DS1 move at about 14 weeks and DS2 from about 10 weeks. Never a problem finding heartbeat, in fact I've been using a cheapy doppler at home and found heartbeat at around 14 weeks and always get it first time. Don't think it has any bearing on labour as long as it isn't low-lying. DS1 was eventually delivered by ventouse but for not placenta reasons and I'll tell you about DS2 in 10 weeks!
