Pinktree, I'm freezing too! Awaiting my puffa jacket from Next to arrive (bigger size, not maternity)

If you are considering baby wearing at all, then this is a fantastic coat. If you put the front panel in, it should cover a bump.

The only problem is that they seem to be out of stock, and I don't think there is another supplier of them in the UK. You might get one on ebay, or could ask if any MNetters have one they no longer need.

I got mine last November when DS was just two, and I have worn it pretty much every day since!! I just wish I had known about it when I was pg!

I went to Asda and got a really nice coat, quite a high wool percentage, petrol blue with a hood, for an impressive £25. It's not maternity, I just bought in a bigger size, since they go up to 24/28 etc. I can't find it on their website but the cut (not the colour) is a bit like this one:

similar in pink

so I'd recommend having a look around your local store.

It usefully has a sort of toggle/loop fastening at about bust level, so I can button it at the moment but if even that becomes a problem, I can just fasten the loop and it will be sort of done up as the loop's well above the bump. I'm very pleased with it. I am narked with the difficulty of getting certain types of clothing suitable for wear during pregnancy. I still haven't really found a pair of trousers that are comfortable and also short enough for me, but that's another story.

Primark. A-line/swing coat two sizes bigger than normal, cheap as chips, love it. Only wish it was slightly longer & warmer on my bum.

A lot of the actual 'maternity' ones have 3/4 sleeves - what's up with that, I'm freezing!

hi Mandy

am hoping my two-sizes-up will be enough

though I can still just about do up my usual coat, though it's well uncomfy!

I'm sure there are several threads like this every winter!

I never found a matenity coat. I wore a fleece of DH's and smartened it up with a pashmina

I need to find something, I'm wearing my OH's coat at the moment (and he doesn't have many warm coats). I tend to wear jeans, I have a scruffy pair of shoes that don't need doing up because I couldn't get down there, I wear a hat (usually black) as I'm on crutches and need to keep my head covered as I can't carry an umbrella too and I'm 5'9" so I don't look very feminine. But try finding a maternity coat that's not too expensive and not wool. If I go up a couple of sizes I will be into 20+ as I'm rather busty.

Maybe a bit late, but I've got one from Esprit, and it is great:

You can't link to specific items on the website, but it's the coat the model is wearing in the bottom right-hand picture. Easy to find in the maternity section.

Try Gap.
I spent ages hunting for a decent coat and eventually found one there. It's a bit expensive at about £90 but it's full length, double breasted, swing style and is a "normal" coat so I'll be wearing it long after I've given birth. And I didn't have to buy a bigger size to my normal size.

I'd strongly recommend it.
Good luck!
