Exhaustion - tips please!

I'm about 8 weeks and suffering really badly with exhaustion. I could happily sit on the sofa all day and not move but unfortunately my young daughter will not allow me to do so. I am also finding it hard to eat anything apart from bad stuff - ie if it is sugary or deep fried then I can probably face it but anything healthy turns my stomach. I'm taking spatone and vitamins but every day is such hard work.

Any tips to boost my energy levels would be much appreciated.

The sugary or deep fried food won't be helping your energy levels.

Try hard to eat protein (chicken, fish) and some pasta, with some vegetables and fruit. That will boost your energy.

Otherwise - rest as much as you can and don't feel guilty.

I had to sleep a lot too in the early days. I was in a sleep induced coma. Just remember it all passes. You need the rest because the body the laying blue print for the baby. I ate very healthy and even continued my gym routine but was very tired and sleepy. No use fighting it, in my view. Can you decrease some of your regular chores to make room for sleep? Perhaps get a baby sitter or a friend to watch your child?

Carbs are good - but try and go for healthier ones. I was desperate for sugar but you just get a quick burst of energy then feel even worse.

Wholemeal toast. Pasta. Baked potatoes - I also ate a lot of mash. If you need something sweet have stodge like scones or pancakes.

I couldn't face fruit or veg early on either - you can go back to those later when you stop feeling sick.

How old is your dd? Can she understand that you need to rest? E.g. after lunch you could have quiet time for you both, tv or quiet playing for her, feet up for you.

You must go to bed early - I was in bed by 8.30 most nights.

This bit will pass.

Thanks everyone.

Will go and stock up and stodge and try and force some down later.

Unfortunately no family locally to babysit so will have to use the DVD player instead - makes me feel really guilty but I suppose she'll enjoy it and a few weeks shouldn't cause lasting harm!!
