Pains

Anyone know what could be happening with me?

When I get up to go upstairs I get really bad pain down there, it sometimes feels like someone is sticking a knitting needle up there. They are agonising and it takes me 5 minutes to walk upstairs. But it stops once I have sat on the toilet and don't happen when I come downstairs.

I'm 37+1 and they are really becoming painful. I don't remember having these pains with DS.

I'm not an expert, kayzisexpecting, but I too had knitting needle pains during late pregnancy. I looked on here and found a thread that said it's quite common and perfectly normal. I also mentioned it to my midwife who said the same- just more stuff stretching and getting ready for the birth. ours do sound particularly bad, though- do you think you may need more rest? If you have an older DS it may be that you're not able to lounge around like you did with your DS?

Thanks Pink, I don't think I could handle more rest. My GP signed me off sick as I needed more rest and I am so bored!!!

But it is very true I did do a lot of lounging around with DS. But now I have him to look after it is more tiring.

Hello - I am 38 + 5 weeks and have exactly the same. I didnt have this first time round with DD, but now, when I get off the sofa, or off the bed etc I am doubled over in pain that makes me gasp. I think that sounds more dramatic than it is (I would be telling someone else to get to A&E if I read that actually!!). but it is exactly knitting needle pain - I have put it down to the baby's head pressing into nerves. As I udnerstand it, second time round the babys head engages and disengages constantly (as the space is much wider) and I have assumed this is why it comes and gos - and comes as I get up and gravity pulls the baby down. It is extremely painful though; I do sympathise!!!
