I really want to see a film thats out Dec 19th, will be 39+1. Maybe a meal too?

Would you risk it?

We don't drive so I may give birth on a stagecoach bus on the way home if anything kicks off!

I went out for dinner with friends 2 days before due date ... went into labour when I got home and went to bed and had ds a day later! Make the most of it while you can ... what's the worst thing that can happen?

broodymom · 19/11/2008 20:03

You'll be fine i just wouldn't travel too far away.If anything do it while you can!

With dd i was out partying on the fri night and woke up in labour on the sat!

Oh yes. And plan a few for after your due date as well then you won't get too frustrated if you go past your due date!

EnchantedwithEdwardCullen · 19/11/2008 20:05

Maybe I will then... and splash out on a taxi too

i did. I had a close friends wedding on my due date and had a couple of nights out whilst overdue, but mainly in the town i live just to be safe!

I've got an overnight trip to London (about an hour away) 3days before me due date, im 38+1! I figure if it happens before I wont go and if it starts while we're there we'll just turn around and come back! I'd go for it if I were you!

dinkystinky · 20/11/2008 08:51

Would that be the Twilight film then Enchanted? Yes, would book it and definitely splash out on taxi - play it by ear re dinner (you may be too tired if late showing to eat afterwards).

Go for it, who knows when you'll be out again! Me and dp went for a pub lunch on my due date. I was huge, the barman asked when I was due, and I said today, the look on his face was priceless!

lauraloola · 20/11/2008 09:11

We took my friend out on her due date!

belgo · 20/11/2008 09:16

yes absolutely! Better to go out and enjoy yourself rather then sitting at home waiting.

I was getting Braxton-Hicks for three nights and they were getting closer and closer and I thought it would all happen very soon.....so because I couldn't stand the thought of another night at home thinking 'will it happen tonight?', I took dp to the cinema to watch a movie with a big film star made in my home town many thousands of miles away. Figured it would make a good birth story if the contractions started in the cinema at that particular movie.

Anyway, what actually happened was that we both caught a bug from someone at the film and both came down terribly ill - so badly that Braxton's went away completely, and on the due date we were both sick in bed and unable to talk. I started to get better first, and realised that if I went into labour there was no way that dp could come to the maternity ward with me, so he went to the emergency doctor and got put on penicillin. He got better quickly and hey, ho - into labour I went.

What a drama!!! And quite funny looking back. Didn't quite turn out the way I envisaged.

Definately go out and have fun. I wish I had made more of that time I had off work before dd came along - I look back on it as such a precious time.

Go for it - we took a friend out to the cinema when she was in early labour. Midwife had told her it would be ages and it would take her mind off it. She got through the film and had her baby the following day. Just make sure you take the phone number for the labour ward out with you and you will be fine. Just be prepared for funny looks from those around you if you get contractions - our friend made little noises whenever he got one and we would sit trying to cough over them so that peeople didn't guess what was happening. We probably just annoyed everyone

I did - a friend's hen night - but cancelled the week before because my blood pressure had gone up slightly and I didn't want to push myself. Glad I did really, because dd was born that very night, 6 days early!
