I was wondering if the amount you drink has an impact on how sick you get.

I always drink very little and had very bad morning sickness with both pregnancies.

Those of you who can say, down a pint of water in one go - or near enough - did you still get bad sickness or didn't it seem too bad?

I know there's been an anecdotal link with dehydration and nausea and I felt better if I'd had enough to drink - but is there a real correlation does anyone think?

i don't drink much and had v little sickness.

conkertree · 17/11/2008 14:01

i suppose if i think about it, i didnt drink much with ds and had moderate sickness but was drinking more this time as was still bf ds and didnt feel so sick - but there may be other factors that were different too, so cant tell if it affected it.

Hi FLIGHT! I'm currently suffering at 9 weeks, and did so too with dds. TBH, I find it difficult to keep water down, though have been OK with very watery hot choc made with milk and small sips of fizzy water. Don't drink more than 3/4 actual drinks a day. On the occasion when I've tried to drink more it's come straight back up!

With both pregnancies I drank plenty of water and was pretty healthy. With DS I was sick once but had nausea. With DD I was extremely sick and could only keep ice cubes down and ended up on anti-sickness pills.

Lol FLIGHT - I have been languishing on sofa all day, still in dressing gown..mumsnet gives me a reason to get off sofa . Thought I had turned a corner at weekend but vomiting back with vengeance. Have sacked acupuncture, and am getting a little bit of relief from cold oven chip butties . Feeling very sorry for myself...

Flightattendant4 · 17/11/2008 15:46

Oh big hugs

Mind you i do like the sound of chip butties

there is always an up side to everything, as they say

the one thing that really made me feel ill was tht Granny murray programme. One note of riversea fingle song and I would retch. For months after he was born, actually...

hope you have a reasonable evening xx

Thank you! The thing that sets me off gagging is that subway advert - I can't even look at the words now I've typed them. With dd1 it was adverts for KFC popcorn chicken

Flightattendant4 · 17/11/2008 16:03

I know, veggie patty, urghhhh

I drink about 2 litres a day and easily down pints of water and haven't felt sick in either pregnancy. Maybe there is something in it because one of my friends had the most terrible sickness all the way through both her pregnancies and she hardly drinks liquid at all.

Its a bit of a vicious circle though because if you're feeling/being sick I expect you don't really fancy downing a glass of water!
