Feckin back pain - any tips?

Woke up yesterday morning in agony - all down one side of my lower back. Was so bad I had nausea, was clammy and sweating. For a little while I genuinely thought I might be going into premature labour (am 25 weeks). I wore a heat pad all day yesterday, lay down for most of the afternoon and it had eased off when I went o bed. This morning I was a bit stiff but ok. Then I did the washing up and after standing in one position for 20 mins it had seized up again and the pain was back . Am going to spend the weekend resting and have got a wedge pillow that seems to help. Any other tips? Please???

I discovered yesterday that circling my hips helps when I am stood up and I get that compacted, achy feeling. I was waiting for a bus and it hurt to stand upright, a bit of circling clockwise then anticlockwise loosened my back up a treat. And got me some strange looks but frankly I don't care cos it worked.

I heard a gym ball helps cos you can sit on it and roll a bit, keeps your back loose, I am going to try to get one today.

A warm bath helps me. Not too hot since we are pregnant. If some one can massage your back once in a while during the day that should help to.

other things are spinal twists in whichever way you can do them. I am too pregnant to do it the correct way so I either extend one leg or sit cross legged. You can even do one lying down.

Pelvic raises helps me as well. All this and more I found in "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" by Lesley Regan. They really seemed to help.

Get your MW to refer you to the physios; sounds like sciatica or sacro-iliac pain.

also a good osteopath who has experience of dealing with pregnant women can work wonders.

I would avoid the heat pads as I'm sure I read somewhere that too much heat can be bad for the baby.
