Was/is anyone still nauseous at 20 weeks?

Hi,

Had severe morning sickness during early weeks and lost over a stone. Much improved now, and rarely vomiting, but still feel nauseous all the time - it is really annoying. Obv, eating little and often (and chocolate ) helps, but just wondered, will I be stuck with this feeling until the birth? Anyone who can offer experiences of this, please do.

Thanks,

Cosmo 20+1

Ps. Haven't thrown up for 5 days but for eg was sick twice week 19, once week 18, three times week 17.

Hi Cosmogirl,

I was also very ill up until 14 weeks with lots of vomiting and lost half a stone. It got much better after that but I am still having the odd vomit (especially if I try to eat too much) and, although I don't feel nauseous as such, I am still not back 'on' food like I am when I'm not pregnant. Lots of things still seem horrible to me - even though I would normally like them. Very weird. I am making myself eat something every couple of hours but sometimes REALLY don't feel like it. As someone who has always loved their food (and I mean LOVED) I find this very weird...

I am 18 weeks tomorrow.

sorry to tell you but i was nauseated for 9 months with dd2 . I stopped vomiting around 24 weeks and then started again around 36 weeks, can still remember vomiting in the lift in the hospital on my way to be induced.....i found little an doften food and drinks containing lots of sugar helped ( this was reccommended by my consultant) i used to drink coffee with 4 sugars in it - yuck , i had to hol dmy nose to get it down but it did work

I'm 20 weeks and still sick occasionaly and feel sick a lot of the time

I was the same with DD right till the end.

Thanks for your replies. Seriously depressing to think I could have another 4 months of this constant nausea - it is a feeling like no other I have felt. So draining and yucky and I am sick of eating too!!!

I was always passionate about my food too and now feel like that has been stripped away. I just hope after the birth I feel 'normal' again. It seems so ironic that I am one of the people to get such bad sickness because I've had a phobia of sick for years and could count the number of times I have thrown up in my life on one hand!! One of life's cruel jokes I suppose...

Good luck to you all.

Afraid i am too everyday and im 17 weeks! but then a little part of me is happy to feel this way as its the only pregnancy symptom i have .

GiraffeAHolic · 12/11/2008 15:18

I had morning allday everyday sickness (both nausea and vomitting) for the whole 39 weeks and 6 days including the 3 days of labour

Guessing that's not what you wanted to hear.

Good luck

Here's a positive one for you: I am 23 + 3 haven't been sick since I was 20 weeks. Prior to that was every couple of days & felt nauseous all the time - lost 3 kilos. Still having the odd bout of nausea but nothing like in the first 20 weeks. Hope the same happens for you!

gingercat12 · 12/11/2008 19:10

I am afraid I was feeling nauseous right up to the end. Even threw up during and after the birth similarly to GiraffAHolic. Sorry, Cosmogirl. I am sure you will feel better soon. I was really craving fruits, and industrial quantities made me feel sick I think.

On the plus side I enjoyed playing with my bump so much that I want to be pregnant again. Could not have been so bad then.

Hi Cosmogirl and others

I still feel rubbish (22+4). You know my background.
Still sickish some mornings but am back on maxalon every morning to help. Feel exhuasted and totally miserable at work but was better last weekend and had a normal interestinfood i.e.loved it! Some days I have no energy at all and feel so sorry for myself. Really hope it goes away..sooner rather than in 4 months time..
Chin up, big hugs

Hi Cosmo. I had hyperemesis until about 16-18 weeks - constant vomiting, also lost a stone, had to be hospitalised. I still felt quite nauseous until about 22 weeks and not completely normal again until about 26 weeks. There is hope!

Bouj · 13/11/2008 06:55

I was sick right up until the birth of ds2 unfortunately. The shower always made me sick (why??) and most foods at some point or another. Threw up spectacularly just after he was born, but by that night was eating like a horse! Try the seasickness bands - they were the only things I found really effective. Good luck.

Shoshe · 13/11/2008 06:59

Was sick from conception to birth with all PG's with DD, ended up weighing less at birth than at conception.

lizziemun · 13/11/2008 07:38

Yes.

When pg with dd2 felt nausous for all 41+1 and lost 17lb when i had her her.

Cosmogirl · 13/11/2008 08:55

Thanks everyone . Well I guess I have to cling to the hope in some of your stories that the nausea might still pass at 24-26 weeks, but am preparing myself for worst case scenario that I could be like this until the birth (ahhhhh)...... Feel bad wishing the preg away because so far sickness has been my only symptom but it is such a horrid one - roll on 31st March!!
