HOW WELL THE BUMP PROTECTED?

I just walked in the darkness into the door half open upstairs. Luckily it hit me on the right side of the bump , and more on the upper half. Happened 15 mins ago, was uncomfortable only for 2-3 mins, and everything is fine now. the only thing that worries me : the baby started moving like crazy, pushing in that direction. Now it has slowed down. Should I be worried and see a doctor tomorrow, or they say babies are usually well protected inthe sack?

Sorry to hear about your accident. See how things are - if you are concerned can you call you midwife to have a chat - mine was helpful if I had any concerns. If you don't feel normal, get a doctor to check you out - best to check and put your mind at rest than worry or take a risk. I fell down some stairs when pregnant and was black and blue and had a broken nose as a result but thankfully DD was born well and healthy. They are pretty well protected. Hope all is ok.

yes babies are well protected and yours in probably fine

but I'm not a doctor so why don't you call your MW or GP tomorrow anyway, just to set your mind at rest

how many weeks are you? has your baby been moving in the usually pattern since it all calmed down?

I was told by my midwife (when I was talking about skiing while pegnant) that the front area is very well protected. She told me make sure that if I fell, I fell forwards and not backwards!

No harm in visiting your midwife or hospital tomorrow though to get things checked if it gives you peace of mind.

Oh, thank you... I hope it is fine. I am sure it is , if I feel something weird, will speak to MF, otherwise.... I'll just leave it... Well done Cezzy !!!

Babies are well protected, but you can bruise more because of everything being stretched. Babies survive the worst of car crashes.

Babies don't like to be prodded so will move out the way or push back, which is probably what you were feeling.

tanks tinkerbelles....
I think that is what it is. moving out of the way.
If Cezzy was fine after a broken nose, I am sure I should be alright then
I am 26+4, btw katie

Hi ranirani, hope you are feeling ok this morning. I'm sure all is ok. I'm now 25 weeks and at 17 weeks my DH and I had a rather nasty car crash and drove head on into a metal barrier at around 30mph. At the point of impact I was turning round to reach for my DD aged 2 who was sitting in the back behind DH. She was of course fine, as in her 5 point harness seat. When we hit the barrier, I got seat belt injuries across my bump and back from where I was turned. I was of course worried sick as I didn't feel baby move all night so went to medical centre the next morning and they checked the heartbeat and all was ok. You felt your little one moving afterwards so I'm sure he/she is fine. If however you are still worried this morning, then it won't hurt to go for a check up. Good luck x
