I had Braxton Hicks in both pregnancies from about 20 weeks I think.

Don't think so. I've had them in both pregnancies from before that. Just need the real thing now (38+4)!

Nope, have had them from about 14/15 weeks this time, (though I do have an irritable uterous).

Can I ask a really silly question - I was reading about these the other day.
Im nealy 27weeks pregnant with first baby and was wondering what Braxton hicks felt like?

I got them from about 20 weeks with my last pregnancy and hadn't had any with my previous ones.

KT, not silly at all. FWIW you probably are having them, but you just won't feel them.

People describe them mostly as being a tightness across the bottom of your bump, but other's get them in their backs or even at the top of the bump.

Personally, they tend to make my whole bump go rock hard for 30 seconds or so and then it slowly softens back up.

MW's will tell you BH's never hurt, but I think they can do, hurt is probably too strong a word, but deffo uncomfortable at times.

KT1983 · 07/11/2008 14:37

hmmm....Maybe I have had them then? Are they continuious? I have had feelings like that, but just put it down to muscles stretching in that area?

mppaw · 07/11/2008 15:29

Sounds like them KT.

Not painful, just uncomfortable. The top half of my belly goes really hard, then all soft. Mine dont tend to be continuous, but it happens again some time later.

All good fun.

could i ask how frequent they need to be before you should do something????

mppaw · 07/11/2008 15:56

Not sure...I didnt even think about doing something as thought they were normal etc.
Suppose if they became regular every "so many minutes" etc, then it would be worth checking them out.
