Am coming to the end of my 2ng pg and have just round out i have an irritable womb. Bit annoyed because i went through my first pg and most of this one knowing something was 'different' to other people.

Anyway i had a very quick first birth (4 hours) and it was very intensive, MW are saying be prepared for an even quicker one. Just want to know from those of you who have irritable womb how were your 1st and 2nd births? Time wise, contractions etc?

I had irritable uterus with my 1st pregnancy, was in hospital with suspected early labour at 33 weeks, had contractions regularly after that point up until delivery. But ended up going to just 3 days early (or more depending on which date they took). Had a long back labour (33hours+), which ended up with epidural and vontuse.

2nd pregnancy, no irritable uterus - normal braxton hicks etc, was really wierd to realise how different it could be and how much easier. Loads of pre-labour niggles for 5 days before birth at 10 days early, but labour was just 2.5 hours, fast and furious!

3rd pregnancy, irritable uterus and again landed in hospital with suspected prem labour at 33 weeks, and again in and out of hospital with contractions up til birth at 5 days early. Labour was just 1.5 hours and ended up as homebirth as no chance to get to hospital.

I really don't think that irritable uterus actually does anything to affect the births, I think that the timewise and contractions of birth are a separate thing. Since you had a fast 1st labour, I would not be surprised if your midwives are right and you have a fast 2nd labour too. Have you considered homebirth as an option?

yes it is an option. I am signed in at birth center but it depends what time of day/night he comes as have a 2yr old ds who is a light sleeper and house isnt very sound proof so if it happened at night wouldnt want to have at home. Just going to try to get to birth center asap!
