I have....

I thought I'd dodged it, or is there a chance that this is a tummy bug, although I've been rough for a few days now. Was actually sick last night and today in work a little bit....help.

Oh dear - hopefully this will pass quickly. My sickness peaked at around this time but I do remember that at this phase I started getting loads of spots which thenm went towards end of 2nd trimester. There must be a massive hormonal shift at the beginning of 2nd tri and this may be making you queasy.

Hope you feel better soon!

I had no symptoms at all until last week (11 weeks) and then had 2 very nauseous days and did vomit one morning. Seems to have settled down again though, so like you am wondering if it might have been a bug?

cfc · 05/11/2008 10:19

Maybe, I feel quite floaty light - I have defo had enough sleep!

I think I read somewhere that there is an increase in hormones at this time which can lead to this so I'll put it down to that for the mo.

Thing is I really love my food! I can't bear throwing up and in my job it's just so dysfuntional! It'll be fine though, I'll hopefully see it out today and that might be that...fingers crossed!!

I had this in my last pregnancy, I had the normal nausea which stopped before 12 weeks. At about 14 / 15 weeks it came back.

I saw my GP who said it was most likely due to stress and doing too much (there was a lot of stressful, non PG related, stuff going on). He signed me off for a little while.

Could your blood pressure maybe be a little low? That made me floaty.

cfc · 05/11/2008 10:35

YES! My blood pressure is notoriously low (from joining the gym to the midwife - I've always been told it's low and asked "have you eaten today?"!!). Do boots measure blood pressure? What shall I do to counter it? I can't bear to eat...

The midwife told me to drink a couple of cups of bouillon a day when my blood pressure was low (for the salt). Licorice is good to but you need to be careful with it...

If you drink the bouillon very hot you'll probably be able to tolerate it.

Just bought some crystallised ginger from a health food shop, sucking on that now...will let you know how it goes..!

Yes my sickness was worse in the 2nd trimester, annoyingly! First I knew of it I was sick in my road It might be a sickness bug though if you're only just into it?

cfc · 05/11/2008 10:53

FYI, it tastes like shit.

Googling bouillon...

Woo hoo! Result, I don't know if it was the ginger (I doubt it as I went as far as sucking off the sugar and chucked the sweet when it became all gingery!) but I did have a cup of real tea with sugar.

I think that has raised my BP (caffeine) and I feel almost normal.

I could even eat!

So, we've been off the brew since we started TTC and my first one today...bliss....I do love my brew.

Thanks for your suggestions oh wise ones. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't return and my one brew won't cause any problems! I am so by the book with my first one, the next one I'll prob be eating sushi with mouldy cheese washing it down with Red Bull and crack cocaine..!

Glad you're feeling better!

This is the sort of thing I mean, I'm in holland and you can get similar all over the place here. Maybe it's not so well known in the UK? 1/3 of a vegetable stock cube in boiling water is basically exactly the same.

Tea is a great thing! You do have to watch caffeine intake, but current recommendations are if you limit it to 2 cups of coffee or 4 of tea it's fine.

cfc · 05/11/2008 12:17

I just looked that up actually. I am not a great chocolat eater either, nor coke etc and I shouldn't think I've ever drank more than 4 cups of tea in a day anyway! So I think we're safe!

Though I am so disinclined to use Govt Guidelines as they seem to change every five mins....

caffeine is the only thing that helps with my second trimester nausea & headaches, it usually settles at about 18 weeks for me.

heverhoney1 · 05/11/2008 21:32

14+4 and just spent the afternoon in the loo trying not to be sick!!!

Glad I am not the only one.

I too had thought that MS had largely passed me by.
