Midwife appointments in late pregnancy

I am currently 35 weeks pregnant with dc3 (and for some reason worrying more this time than I did with the last two pregnancies). I last saw my midwife 2 weeks ago and the baby was lying transverse, she could not fit me in to see her again until I am 37 weeks, which I think seems like a long time at this stage of pregnancy (especially as dd1 was born at 37 weeks)

I think that the baby has turned, but I really want it to be confirmed - do you think that I should wait for the appointment, or phone her and ask to see her again?

In my area, for second and subsequent pregnancies we see a community midwife every fortnight from 34 until 40 weeks - so I think your wait for an appt is probably fairly normal (3 weeks-ish, yes?) However, if you are feeling anxious, it's always worth ringing up and seeing if she can fit you in sooner. Your GP may be able to help, too.

Are gp's or nurses any good at working out which way the baby is lying - as I have got to have bloods done next week otherwise it will be 4 weeks before I see her again.

My midwife wanted to leave it incredibly late to do anything about the fact that I had a breech baby. I realised that time was running out if I wanted ECV. I rang the hospital and explained the situation and the person I spoke to just made me an appointment at the ante-natal clinic to see a consultant. They didn't seem at all bothered by the fact that I had bypassed the midwife.
It might be worth you doing the same. If you go to hospital if they aren't sure of the babys position they can just do a really quick scan to check the position. A consulant I saw (at a different appointment) just had a scanning machine on a trolley that she could use to check the babys position, they don't need a sonographer to check something basic like that.
