When did your baby 'turn'?

I'm 30 weeks with my first (a girl) and wondering when I should expect the baby's head to turn? Two of my friends had breech babies recently and had to have c sections. Am petrified of having to have one. Have started to get nightmares about ti!

I don't think midwives really give much importance to the position of the baby until about 36 weeks (?).

Is she breech now?

LoveActually · 30/10/2008 17:38

Yes she is. I know it's early but ahve heard that with firstbabies, they turn earlier.

ds1 went back and forth a few times between head down and oblique. I think he finally stayed head down at about 37/38 weeks.

ds2 was head down from about 34 weeks iirc

and you know, you don't have tyo have a C-section for a breech baby. it is perfectly possible to have a vaginal delivery.
google mary cronk

My baby didn't. She was born as a breech baby at home with IMs - and it was the best birth of anyone I know even though she was my first and 9lb 12!

As Thisisyesterday says, a CS isn't compulsory if your DD stays breech, although the NHS can make it seem that way.

In addition to googling Mary Cronk, try and find a copy of "Breech Birth" by Benna Waites and/or "Breech Birth: What are my options" by Jane Evans - I found them both to be very approachable, informative and I felt them to be much more balanced than the NHS registrar I saw.
