My left leg has been sort of dead for a big part of the afternoon. I can walk but it is making me limb. It doesnt hurt just feels very wierd and annoying. Just wondering if a random pg thing or something else? Cant see any wierd veins (thinking dvt!)

Am 36 weeks btw

don't want to worry you but I'd get checked out in case of clot

mad4mybaby · 29/10/2008 18:48

what are other symptoms of a clot? Would it not be really painful?

Dvts can be accompanied by pain, redness, swelling and pins and needles (plus a few other things probably) and can be very dangerous untreated. You don't necessarily get all of these symptoms but being pg is a risk factor.
But even if you do have some of these symptoms it's not always a dvt.
I've had 2 confirmed (1 in pg) and 1 (another pg) where they couldn't find another. All 3 were fairly similar experiences, but the unconfirmed one caused me problems for the longest timed (12.5 weeks).
Get it checked out asap I'd say. They are treatable.
The veins on your left kink a bit I think which is why you're more likely to have problems on that side. The baby can lie in such a way as to restrict the blood flow.
Better safe than sorry I think. Just a bit of hassle. You may get a blood test. You may get an ultrasound. You may get drugs as a precautionary measure.

it could be nothing, it could be sciatica-type thing, but there's no harm getting checked out, better safe than sorry and all that

I got a sort of tingly, numb, dead feeling just above my knee at the front of my left thigh at about 32 weeks in my second pregnancy. Medical opinion was that it was just the way the baby was lying on a nerve. My leg went back to normal a little while after the birth. I am now in my third pregnancy and I have the same symptoms, and again they started in the third trimester. If it's like mine then it is probably just 'one of those things' but it is definitely worth having a Dr check it out. On a more practical note, I found leg became quite painful if I'd done a lot of standing (walking was OK) during the day, and wearing a bump support did seem to help the symptoms. I think it's not uncommon in pregnancy.
