Can anyone help??

I am 15 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I have had bleeding for nearly two weeks now. It has mainly been brown spotting9one panty liner a day) with the exception of two episodes of fresh bleeding. I also have a little bit of cramping. The scan shows that baby is well with strong heartbeat and good size. I am signed off work until it stops and being scanned weekly. The doctors have said that it is coming from placenta but dont know why though the placenta is low lying. I am so scared of miscarrying but they have said there is only a small chance about 3-4% risk. I am really nervous about this and was wondering if anyone has had this and gone on to have healthy babies. I would really appreciate some advice as this was a fertility baby and so scared of losing it!!

I bled at four weeks (thought it was my period ), 15 weeks and 25ish weeks. DD is now 2.5.

Other than that little reassurance that it can all work out okay, I would say, follow your doctors' advice and your instincts. As hard as it is, please try not to worry overly. x

I bled at 5 weeks very lightly and then bled from 12 weeks to 19 weeks in a way which sounds very similar to you; occasional clotting and a lot of brown spotting. I was very worried, but, like you, had lots of scans which showed that the baby was absolutely fine. It was incredibly frustrating to not know why I was bleeding - but there are some areas where pregnancy cannot be medicalised and 'it just happens'. At one point I was told it was a sub-chorionic haemotoma (where some of the placenta breaks away and has to bleed out) or a possible low-lying placenta, but I think they were trying to ressure me with a reason.

Anyway, I'm now 39 weeks pregnant with what appears to be a very healthy baby. Try not to worry, although I know that is much easier said than done. Your risk of miscarriage is very low now and more women than you think bleed during pregnancy (although I found it really hard to find any information on this that didn't offer the worst case scenario). Hope everything goes well.

I bleed/spotted on and off with this pregnancy between 12 & 16 weeks and am currently at 38+2 with a very healthy, active baby. I had a subchorionic haematoma, basically and area of pooled blood, behind the placenta and was told that some women bleed, some don't and the blood gets reabsorbed. I also had one with ds2, but it got reabsorbed. Easier said than done but please try to relax, I am sure that everything will be ok
