I have very heavy and low bump and my jeans although comfy, baby is not impressed when i sit down as seem to dig in his head and very tight on me. What trousers are about that a)wont fall down when i stand up b) dont look too 'slobby' as in too track suity.

Also what do you wear on your feet with them? Can not wear heels at all and my trainers are now so skanky looking from wearing all the time!

I got some fantastic black trousers from H & M, they have a wide band round the top but it doesnt keep falling down and I can use them for work and home. They were still in there when I was in last week, I nearly bought another pair!! I think they are £25?

Rosa · 14/10/2008 18:55

M&S over the bump jeans- I got mine on line and am still wearing them at 36 weeks. My bump hates anything that digs in and fights back. Gave up at 28 weeks on H&M , SImply be ( Crappy oh big time) . Have mothercare black pair left over from 1st pregnancy that are ok .

MiniMarmite · 14/10/2008 19:02

The only trousers that were comfortable for me in the third trimester were some soft and very stretchy trousers from mammas and papas. I had a pair in brown and a pair in black. They were the same fabric all over so didn't dig in anywhere.

FeelingLucky · 14/10/2008 19:06

Not sure if they still do them, but I lived in my Top Shop maternity trousers, even during those post-labour months when you;ve not quite lost all that pregnancy weight.
Very smart for work (I wore them high heeled boots or ssmart trainers).
On more casual days I wore them with my closed-toe birkenstocks.

umberella · 14/10/2008 19:07

domn't normally like next clothes but i wore great over-bump jeans from there and they were super comfy.

mad4mybaby · 14/10/2008 19:12

i cant stand over bump stuff!! Its a battle because i feel so uncomfortable in over bump stuff (was always a hipster wearin b4 kids!) and always pulling down and get too hot whereas bump cant stand under bump unless its my pjs!

I have the same problem, the under the bump jeans are fine standing up but when sitting down, really dig in and the bump doesn't like it at all!

I got over the bump jeans and over the bump smart black trousers from Dorothy Perkins, they are super comfy and the band also helps support the bump gently.

I wear boots or shoes with tiny kitten heels if I want to be a bit smarter for work - heels are 1.5 in only - and at weekend I wear ballet flats, or Ugg boots which are very comfy but are smarter than trainers.

HTH!

liznay · 14/10/2008 19:19

I don't normally like next clothing but have a pair of over the bump, ajustable bootleg trousers from there which are very comfy. I wear them with ballet pumps from M&S.

Buckets · 14/10/2008 19:36

Next underbump trousers just don't work. They just fall down! Spent most of my pregnancy with my hands in my pockets or thumbs in the beltloops to keep them up!

mad4mybaby · 14/10/2008 19:38

silly question but when you wear ballet pumps do you just have your bare feet? Obv socks look bit silly and no tights as just ANOTHER restrictive thing round the middle! Do those tight sock things look ok with them? Finding it too cold without socks!

Totally given up on my trendy maternity jeans and nice maternity black trousers - they either dig in when I sit down and give me pins and needles or they also fall down. Shamefully resorted to Gap yoga pants abit like tracksuit trousers but not quite as slobby but am SAHM so dont have to dress for an office. Think I can get away with it with nice tops. Also wearing maternity skirts.

babyinbelly · 15/10/2008 00:27

I have these and these

am 20weeks and find both very comfy, especially the black trousers. Bonus they come in loads of lengths, however I have a 29inch inside leg but still needed the short even tho says 27inches

ButIForgetMyself · 15/10/2008 08:08

I was always a hipster wearing girl too, but I've just put my last pair of under-the-bump trousers away because they are digging in too much.

I have forced myself to start wearing over-the-bump stuff, it was tricky at first (felt like Simon Cowell). I've got so used to them now I wouldn't wear anything else - I particularly like the bengalin style stretchy black trousers - very comfy and very forgiving. Also a pair of baggy over-the-bump jeans from Mamas and Papas which you can pull in at the back with an outer buckle thing. Next over-the-bumps I just found massive.

mad4mybaby · 15/10/2008 08:55

im hating next at the moment! The sizing is just all over the place! I wear a petite length and always spot on and i ordered 2 pairs of mat jeans in petite and had to get them both turned up a couple of inches!! Each season i find i vary between 2 sizes, no where else just next. ridicuous!

I got regular length and they are practically down over my toes, and they are my pre-maternity size but I would need braces to keep them up if I wanted to wear them.

But I couldn't be arsed to send them back, I kept thinking "I'll grow into them". I only have 11 weeks left to grow into them. Maybe when I'm so big that nothing else fits I might actually wear them.

mad4mybaby · 15/10/2008 09:06

whats bengalin? babyinbelly, what do you wear on your feet with the next jersey ones?

phee96 · 15/10/2008 09:32

I got a lovely pair from Dorothy Perkins. They were so comfy for work that when I grew out of them, I got them again in a bigger size

I just wore them with sandals in summer and now I wear them with either my trainers or UGG boots... comfort all the way!

liznay · 15/10/2008 10:55

mad4mybaby - re ballet pumps -i'm ashamed to say that I often wear them with thin black socks, but I wear my trousers quite long so you cant' really see whether they are socks or knee high stockings.
You can buy knee high pop socks from most shops and if you buy them in tan, no one will be any the wiser and it will look better too.
I'm going for comfort and warmth over fashion this season tho!

bikerunski · 15/10/2008 11:42

I really liked my Seraphine cords (under bump) - pricey, but they were having a sale when I got them. Also, Gap maternity do good met trousers I found, agian, under bump, but they do several styles. I wore Converse shoes in various colours all summer, and brown leather PF FLyers (like converse) when it was wet. Luckily, don't have a formal dress code at work!

FunnyLittleFrog · 15/10/2008 12:13

Love H&M over the bump straight leg jeans, have had 2 pairs and they've seen me through most of this pregnancy. The over the bump bit takes some getting used to (lol at feeling like Simon Cowell!) but it does give some support in the later stages and also stops your tummy getting cold! Don't know how but these jeans also make my thighs look thinner - midwife even commented on this!

JezzaJ9 · 15/10/2008 13:03

Hi, I have next underbump trousers they look like suit trousers flared quite smart but are actually really soft sort of lycra material.

Same problem with under the bump jeans now I am 32.3 weeks but as its getting a bit cooler out the over the bump ones are still going strong I have a feeling in a few weeks I may be in yoga bottoms non stop though!!!

ButIForgetMyself · 15/10/2008 13:35

Bengalin: here.

babyinbelly · 15/10/2008 14:53

I wear the jersey trousers for work so wear them with a pair of black slip on backless things from tesco. I will see if I can find anything similar to link to.

I do agree that the sizes from next are all over the place. Leg lengths and general sizing. I order online and then return to the nearest shop. The items come the next day so it is quick and easy to swap.
