PG with DC3

Never gone into labour, been induced boht times before.

DD firstly was long long long labour, induced, epidural etc - 29 hours from teh first crampy pain to holding her (ffs)

DS (second baby) was v long first stage but once things started going WHOOSH, had a sweep, walked to delivery suite as not much happening and MW thought it might set things off a bit more, got into delivery suit and 40 mins later pushed for 5 minutes and there he was (was quite shocking actually!)

So I basically have no educated guess as to when to set off, if I do go into labour by myself this time.

What do you think?

Straight away!!!! My dd popped out on bedroom floor, just 10 mins before I had said think I might be starting in labour and a few minutes later my waters went and then she made her big appearance. So ime a few days before to be on the safe side

i think if i was an hour away i'd get going as soon as the pain got fairly bad. do you have a community midwife nearer who could check you over before making the journey?

MamaG · 13/10/2008 15:42

I'm just going to wait and ring the community midwife to come and get me.

MamaG · 13/10/2008 18:08

Well, they like for you to get there on your own.

But like that is going to happen when I'm stuck at home with two kids and DH has taken the car to go to work?

Erm, no, don't think so.

There are only 1 or 2 ambulances for a geographically LARGE area, too, and a large percentage of elderly people.

So I'm just going to call them up when it finally happens.

You do right, no point in fannying around.

My bloody mohter has let me down so now, 2 weeks before EDD, I'm having to worry about who's going to have the DCs. I have a mate/neighbour who I get on well with, have occasional coffee with but we aren't hugely close who I'm going to ask to have my DC overnight when I go into labour. Our DH's work together and get on great and she did say "if you're stuck..." so i hope she bloody meant it!

Also need to arrange one of DS's mates' mums (who I have known for about 6 months fgs, with one coffee but lots of chatting in playground) if she can take the DC to school and have them at her house afterwrads as said mate above works 3 days a week and you can bet I'll go into labour on a really inconvenient day!

ARGH. I'm fucked off with my mother, want to kick her arse tbh!!

So my nice long 3 day rest in little MLU has gone tits up as I'll now be staying a night at the CLU and coming straight home

(sorry, bit of a rant there, becoming a theme with me!)

That sux, MamaG! Does she know how much this meant to you? Damn. My mama would love to have been here for DS's birth.

That's awful!

Here it's all 24 hour discharge, even in CLU, for non-instrumental vaginal delivery.

Am going to be soooooo relieved when my folks show up.

MamaG · 14/10/2008 11:50

Even if she sorts herself out now, I'll decline her help to be honest: have no faith in being able to rely on her at the moment.

Will just have to manage!
