Moses baskets

This probably isn't the right place to post this but can people please suggest good places to get nice but relatively cheap Moses baskets from? I've tried the places I can think of (Toys R Us, Argos etc) but have not found anything I really like.

Any ideas???

Try to remember that size is more important than looks - you need a good wide one.

I had a lovely dark wicker one which looked lovely but every time ds stretched his arms out he hit the side and woke himself up. Not what you want really.

have you considered second hand? check the papers

ebay. Check for local ones that you can collect, and watch them all until you spot a bargain.

I got a Mamas and Papas one with a stand in perfect condition for a fiver!

Then just buy a new mattress (£13 for mine).

we got ours for dd form mothercare £40 and got all bedding with it and blankets

And try your local NCT branch or website to see if they are having any sales - they are supposed to be excellent for getting good quality secondhand stuff for cheap, then you'd just need to get new mattress/bedding which can be had from Mothercare for a few quid.

I agree with the EBAY suggestion. John lewis is good but expensive so 2nd hand is great for bargin. Only used for short time anyway

Try and borrow one. I bought ours for about £35 in mothercare nearly 8 years ago for dd2 (how is that nearly 8 years ago??? ) Anyway she liked it and I used it a lot, since then have lent it out to at least five people. Then comes dd3 and she hated it! Spent about one very broken night in it and a couple of naps and used the carry cot wholesale. However 'old faithful' is currently on loan to yet another friend's baby so I've definately had my moneys worth. If I'd had dd3 first iyswim I would have been gutted though.

John Lewis is actually one of theh cheapest places as their basic one isn;t covered in frills and crap and hence is £30.

I have never purchased a moses basket but to me £30 is a lot of money for something that you don't use very long. I tend to borrow mine.

I got one from the NCT for £5 that looks brand new and came with two sets of bedding.

Do I really need a new mattress or should I just wash the one that came with it?

Really would check ebay because most people wont post them they go really cheap I got a lovely M&P with stand and bedding for £10!
