Is there something that I can put on it before it covers my whole face? I guess Zovirax is not recommended for pregnant ladies...

is it not? I'm sure I used it during pregnancy, as it is topical. But maybe I should have read the label first.

I had a cold sore in early pregnancy and didn't think that Zovirax could be used. Instead I used Paul Smith perfume and it worked a treat!!!!

mags98 · 29/09/2008 20:41

Zovirax is fine.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/09/2008 20:47

Zovirax ok.

ChasingSquirrels · 29/09/2008 20:55

it says not recommended, personally i looked into quite alot of information online about it - and came to the conclusion that i was happy to use it. you make your own decision though.

MadMazza · 29/09/2008 20:59

I agree kd73. I always use a dab of perfume on mine, works a treat, doesn't matter what make either - I do it when they are small mind you (don't know if it would work when the cold sore is large)

I get oodles of cold sores and think this is totally fabulous. You can get them in boots now and there is also talk that you can get them on the NHS.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/09/2008 22:10

You wouldn't be able to use that during pregnancy though would you sj?

smartiejake · 29/09/2008 22:29

Not sure actually but it runs on one 9v battery. Can't imagine it would do any harm will look on the website to see what it says

Nope quite safe.

From the FAQ info
"The wavelength used by the Virulite device is very close to that of the Nd:YAG laser which has been used by doctors all over the world for several decades. The Virulite Cold Sore Machine radiates divergent light which is inherently 'eye-safe' and uses powers 1/10'000 less than medical lasers already in use. It has been documented in medical papers that Nd:YAG laser surgery to a pregnant woman's cervix (neck of the womb) is a safe procedure if clinically indicated. The cervix is very close to the developing baby. "
