Hospital bag for C-section

Is there anything that I will need in my hospital bag for a C-section?

I have been recommended to take Arnica tablets, both before and after; slip on slippers so that I don't need to bend down to put them on.

I am thinking of taking Rescue Rememdy to calm my nerves ( I am absolutely bricking it at the thought of a section!!!)

Any other advice/tips/reassurance very welcome!

Apologies if this has been asked before, couldn't find a thread when I did a search..

I've been following this thread as I'm having a section in December. Just wanted to wish you luck .

wow, what a great thread...I haven't got much to add given that you have already received so much useful info...all I will add is 2 words - "TINNED PRUNES", the best thing I was offered in hospital after the section.

My incision was closed with staples and it felt like I was being stabbed when trying to pass motion, was awful!

I might need a second section and to be honest, I am beginning to get worried about how it will be second time round with a toddler to look after as well.

Abbymeg - thank you for your good wishes, I think that I should add Rescue Remedy to my list, getting rather nervous.....

Not sure about the tinned prunes...not so keen on the dried ones either, but if they do the job...

I am planning on having a c sect with my second, following and emergency cs with my first. I am only 17 weeks but petrified already. I had been given pethadine and was just v relieved when I went in for the last one and am scared of going in stone cold sober for this one although it will be nice to remember a bit more of it. Is it ok to take Resue Remedy?.

Did a quick "Google" and it seems that it is safe to take during pregnancy, birth and breast feeding. HTH

I am having my third c section and reading the message board today i nearly went into labour laughing at all of the funny comments and suggestions that have been put on the forum. Thank you for brightning my day.
On a more serious note i am nervous about my c section but am really excited about meeting my new baby but completly agree about the epidural when they ask for you to arch your back. How is this humanly possible with a huge bump at the front causing you to look more like a slightly hunched granny!!

Oh am so glad to have stumbled across this thread! Due a section in 2 weeks after an EMCS last time.

Can't shake the ever-growing fear that is building for some reason. WHich is odd, as didn't have a terrible experience last time at all.
It wasn't planned, but it wasn't awful!

In some ways it's a relief to know it's going to happen on the date it's booked for but am getting more and more scared.

Might need to swallow a bottle of Bach before theatre!

Just one question... What do you do with a very squeamish hubby?
