Any solutions to lower back pain whilst sleeping?

This goes out to all the experienced ones out there. I was expecting this, but I'm sleeping on my sides and during the night I've just started getting lower back pain. Any solutions would be welcome.

Put a small soft pillow between your knees as you are sleeping on your side. This helped me late on in pregnancy.

The V shaped pillows you can buy are good to put between your legs, as you can rest most of the lower leg on it, and keep a straighter position. Most back pain is because as the bump gets bigger, lying on your side means your leg has to twist over more to rest it on the bed. If you try and keep your back straighter by raising the leg it should stop the pain.Does that make sense?!

No solution, I'm afraid, but just to say if you try all of the tips given so far and nothing works, don't worry. I had the exact same problem for the last 8 weeks of my pregnancy and it got worse to the point of having to get up every hour during the night. You could try osteopathy (I did, didn't sort it, although helped a tiny bit), otherwise, just look forward to the birth - my back pain went immediately. Of course, your little one will be waking you in the night then, but the quality of sleep improves straight away!!
Hope you do find something that works.

I was flicking through a Kleenezee brochure tonight (like you do) and they do a special pillow to put between your knees for people with back pain. It has straps to keep it in place (fastens with velcro by the look of it.) Might be worth trying?

Have you tried one of those wedge pillows for under your bump? I still use mine to stop me rolling onto my front and the pain that causes me.

I slept on the settee

Jzee - echo the comments re the pillow. Mine was from Grobag and I really got good use from it. DD is using it now as well to prop her up. Also, I found prenatal yoga really good to take pressure off the back

The sofa one was actually quite good, but not very romantic and a bit cold for this time of year! Umm I've tried a few of the pillow options and sometimes it works, but on other occasions I'm up at 3.30am having a cup of tea. I'm not too bothered though, as I suppose it's getting me into the practice for the future!
